Live Music Comes Back to NYC: Hybrid Limited In-Person Seating and Livestreamed Rufus Wainwright Concerts at City Winery NY Up First

New York City is reopening live events with limitations starting April 2nd. And on April 6th, Mandolin (the premiere live streaming platform connecting venues and artists to fans) and City Winery will be one of the first to take New Yorkers up on it, with their first-ever hybrid in-person/livestream concerts featuring Rufus Wainwright.

Rufus will be performing two shows: Tuesday, April 6th @ 7PM ET and Wednesday, April 7th @ 9:30PM ET. For these special solo performances, he will be performing “Early Rufus” for the first show of the night and switching to “Later Rufus” later on.

City Winery and Mandolin have been exclusive livestream partners since summer 2020, and these April shows prove that, in NYC, the show must go on … just a little differently. With these hybrid concerts, fans both in NYC and nationwide will get a taste of what live music will look like as we forge ahead into 2021. And artists and venues will get to finally combine the benefit of their in-person fans with the expanded audience that live streams provide.

Shlomo Lipetz, VP of programming of City Winery, said: “I can’t wait to open our doors up for fans for the first time in a year. The hybrid model is the best of both worlds for us as a venue, and for our artists, and Mandolin’s been helping us plan this transition since day one. Welcome back, NYC!”

Rufus Wainwright’s new Grammy and Juno nominated album, Unfollow the Rules, displays Rufus at his peak, entering artistic maturity with a newfound fearlessness and raw honesty. With NYC opening back up for live events, Rufus is ready to showcase his craft for an audience, both in-person and livestreamed exclusively on Mandolin.
