Intelligence Squared U.S. Debates Smart Drugs, U.S.-China Relations, Campus Sexual Assault, and More in Fall Season

Intelligence Squared U.S., the 9-year-old debate series that has advanced intellectual life in New York City and the nation, kicks off their fall season on September 16. They encourage listeners to "think twice" about ideas in the national conversation with topics including smart drugs, sexual assault on campus, U.S.-China Relations, the gas tax, affirmative action, and more, leading into their 10-year anniversary in 2016.

Recorded in front of live audiences in New York, Chicago, and Washington D.C., the debates will live stream for free online, then air on public radio and on the IQ2US podcast for an audience of millions. IQ2US is one of the top 25 most popular podcasts in iTunes and has won "Best Public Affairs Program" three years running at New York Festivals International Radio Awards. See lineup below, and go here for more info on individual debates: http://intelligencesquaredus.org/

Fall 2015 Intelligence Squared US Debates:

Sep. 16: "Courts, not campuses, should decide sexual assault cases"
Are colleges and universities equipped to investigate and prosecute sexual assault on campuses? Or do these cases belong in the criminal justice system?
Oct. 14: "China and the U.S. are long-term enemies"
How should the U.S. navigate its relationship with an ascendant China? And will they be a long-term ally, or adversary?
Oct. 27: "Raise the federal gas tax to fund infrastructure"
The Highway Trust Fund provides funding for road, bridge, and mass transit projects across the country - and it's running out of money. Should Congress raise the federal gas tax to help fund infrastructure?
Nov. 2: "College students should be allowed to take smart drugs" (in DC)
The use of cognitive enhancers, or "smart drugs," like Adderall, Ritalin, or modafinil, is becoming increasingly popular among college students hoping to get ahead. But is their use ethical? And is it safe? (In partnership with FIRE)
Nov. 10: "U.S. prosecutors have too much power" (in Chicago)
Incidents of prosecutorial overreach and withholding of exculpatory evidence have led some critics to conclude that there is an epidemic of prosecutorial misconduct. Is it time to rein in prosecutors? (In partnership with Northwestern Law School)
Nov. 18: "Central banks can print prosperity"
Central banks all around the world have embarked on programs of quantitative easing. But will it lead to real and sustainable increases in global growth, or is it sowing the seeds of future inflation?
Dec 3: "The Equal Protection Clause forbids racial preferences in state university admissions"
Many state universities give preferences to certain races in their admissions decisions. But does this violate the Constitution's Equal Protection Clause? (In partnership with the National Constitution Center)
