(New York, NY): Jack Gray knows a thing or two about real friends — and fake ones. In the video for “Friends Like These,” out today via 1883 Magazine, the L.A. transplant by way of Australia tackles fake friendships with the surreal visual metaphor of a llama. “Friends Like These” was released in October and the track is his U.S. debut for Elektra Records.
“Friends Like These” sees the "unassuming pop star" (Alt Citizen) reflecting on fake friends, disguising the mature introspection of the lyrics with a candy-colored synthpop beat. The video sees him out in the countryside leading a llama and partying surrounded by “friends” wearing llama masks, emphasizing artificiality and isolation.

After moving stateside from Australia this year, Jack Gray performed at his first-ever showcases in New York and Los Angeles and supported U.K. indie-pop darling Maisie Peters on her U.S. tour. Earlier this year, the budding singer/songwriter completed his first-ever run of North American dates opening for fellow Aussie Dean Lewis and toured with the likes of Mahalia, E^ST and Ella Vos.

Jack Gray also played a sold-out, multi-date headlining tour in his native Australia to support his EP 'Nights Like This'. Released to rave reviews, Jack's debut EP is a collection of songs that reflect the young singer-songwriter’s remarkable growth as an artist and producer. Featuring songs such as "Fools" and "Down Side Of Up", the EP often juxtaposes conflicting emotions, tackling weighty topics with subtle nuance and thoughtful reflection, while also capturing the beautiful highs and messy lows of the journey into adulthood.
With new music coming down the pipeline, Jack Gray shows no sign of slowing down. Calling to mind contemporaries from Jack Garratt and James Blake to Frank Ocean and The 1975, Jack's melodic voice floats over a combination of slick guitar work and crunchy electronic production.
