Jackie Greene Headlines his Annual Birthday/ Thanksgiving Show at San Francisco's Warfield

Phil Lesh confirmed to join Jackie and band of All Star guests.

Singer, songwriter and musician Jackie Greene will throw his annual birthday/ Thanksgiving show on Saturday, November 26th at the Warfield in San Francisco. Phil Lesh is confirmed as a guest performer, as well as Jason Crosby, Ross James, Mark Karan, and other very special guests to be announced.

For nearly a decade, Greene, who grew up in nearby Salinas, has organized this birthday/Thanksgiving show at different venues around the Bay Area, including the Fillmore and Fox Theatre. Beginning as a birthday party thrown by Phil Lesh, the annual show grew into a weekend of shows including the Jackie Greene Band and invited guests, which in the past have included Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Tim & Nicki Bluhm, Mark Karan, Jason Crosby, Jeff Chimenti, John Molo, and more. This Thanksgiving show, which will happen during his 36th birthday weekend, is also Greene’s first headlining appearance at the Warfield. The night will begin with the electric Jackie Greene Band followed by a stripped down set by Jackie and Nathan Dale, and then the night turns to a rockin’ free for all of the All Star band performing  Grateful Dead songs and other surprises.

The Jackie Greene Band is Nathan Dale (Guitars, Vocals), Fitz Harris (Drums, Vocals), Jon Cornell (Bass), and Jackie Greene (Vocals, Acoustic/Electric Guitars, Hammond B3, Piano, Harmonica).

Last year, Jackie Greene released ‘Back to Birth,’ his first album in five years. Produced by Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin, the 11 songs that make up his seventh album pulls from his Americana roots and, like Greene’s voice, are plainspoken, eloquent, and genuine Americana.

Growing up as a self taught pianist and guitarist, Greene wrote and performed songs for many years while honing his songwriting craft inspired by vintage rock, country, blues and R&B. Greene released his self-produced and self-released debut album ‘Rusty Nails’ in 2003. With each new release, Greene’s reputation grew and led him to open for the likes of B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi, Huey Lewis, Mark Knopfler, and Taj Mahal. In 2013, Greene joined the reunited Black Crowes as lead guitarist, and in 2014, Greene joined Joan Osborne and Crowes’ drummer Steve Gorman to form the supergroup Trigger Hippy, which released its self-titled debut that year. Since 2007, Greene has been a frequent member of Phil Lesh & Friends, contributing lead guitar and vocals. Greene has also toured with Bob Weir and Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson as the acoustic trio WRG, and he joined the late Levon Helm in his famous Midnight Ramble shows.

After Thanksgiving, Greene will tour throughout California in December, including a special New Year’s Eve show with the Jackie Greene Band and The Mother Hips in Sacramento. Greene will also travel to Telluride, CO, and Salt Lake City, UT, with Anders Osborne in mid-January.
