"The Colorful Mozart of Gen Z"

June 10, 2022 | Jacob Collier has returned with his first new song of 2022 - his first official single since he released Djesse Vol. 3, which earned three nominations at the 2021 GRAMMY® Awards, including Album of the Year and Best R&B Performance. "Never Gonna Be Alone" was written and recorded over the past year by the 5-time GRAMMY® winner, and features Lizzy McAlpine on vocals, with whom the song was co-written, alongside John Mayer on guitar.

Listen to "Never Gonna Be Alone" - a tender, sparkling, sun-drenched song, brimming with such Jacobian harmonies as have captivated fellow musicians like SZA, Chris Martin, Alicia Keys, Lizzo, Kehlani and millions of fans across the globe.

Says Collier: "Here's a song I wrote last year, in the depths of lockdown, with my dear friend Lizzy McAlpine. I wanted to explore the deep, vivid emotional world of isolation, loss and memory, blurring the lines between reality and imagination, by piecing together a tapestry of soft orchestral sounds. It speaks to my experience of the world as a hugely beautiful and fragile place, and has helped me process some of the grief I think we're all feeling for our pasts and futures, in a myriad of different ways."

Despite this being his first new song of the year, Collier has been magnanimously busy. He was recently featured in the New York Times' Style section, a deep dive into "the colorful Mozart of Gen Z's" distinct approach to the many facets of fashion. Additionally, a documentary that explores his remarkable career thus far, including interviews with Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Stormzy, Chris Martin, Hans Zimmer and others, debuted in early May on the BBC.

Collier has just completed the North American run of his biggest tour yet. For nearly 40 dates across April and May, Collier and a full band brought Djesse Vol. 3 hits like "All I Need," "Sleeping On My Dreams," "In Too Deep" and "Time Alone With You" to sold-out shows across the country, including three nights in NYC at Terminal 5, Brooklyn Steel and Irving Plaza. The tour continues with his biggest gigs ever at home in the U.K., including two sold-out shows at the 5000-capacity O2 Academy Brixton in London, before the adventures continue in Europe in July and beyond.
