October 25, 2024: Colorado-bred, Tennessee-based singer-songwriter Jobi Ricco has released new single “Final Movie Scene,” a delicate ode to daydreaming and growing pains, filled with her “raw, recognizable emotion” (Bandcamp) and “crisp guitar work” (Denver Post).

“‘Final Movie Scene’ is a song about escaping,” says Riccio. “Whether it be into a fantasy version of your life or into another person or relationship. It speaks to the secret desire I think we all feel at some point to be swept out of our current reality and into something beautiful and all consuming to avoid examining hard things in our lives, all the while knowing it isn’t realistic or healthy. I was house sitting for several weeks by myself during a big snowstorm back in Colorado when I wrote ‘Final Movie Scene’ and I wanted to capture that feeling of isolation and fantasizing in a cinematic way in the production, drawing inspiration from songs such as ‘Exit Music (For a Film)’ by Radiohead.”

“Final Movie Scene” arrives as Riccio celebrates one year since the release of her “incisive debut” (NYT) record Whiplash (Yep Roc). Whiplash - written over the course of several formative and tumultuous years in Riccio’s late teens and early twenties - effortlessly melds classic folk and country sounds with indie and atmospheric production. From the bittersweet album opener “Summer” to the jazz-infused album closer “One Last Time,” each song is a revelatory, coming-of-age story about change, healing, growth, and self-love.

This summer, Jobi shared vibrant single “Instead,” showcasing her witty humor and acute self-awareness. Other recent highlights include earning the Americana Honors & Awards Nomination for Emerging Act of the Year, making her debut on major stages including The Grand Ole Opry and Bonnaroo, returning to Newport Folk Festival, where she was honored with The John Prine Songwriters Fellowship Award in 2023, along with an appearances Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and more. To cap off the year, Riccio will perform a string of dates with The Wood Brothers
