Judith Owen and Harry Shearer Release 'Christmas with the Devil,' November 17
udith Owen and her actor/humorist husband Harry Shearer kick off the holidays with 'Christmas with the Devil' (Nov 17) - a two-song EP featuring the irreverent title track made famous by Spinal Tap and Judith's emotional yuletide ballad "The Dancing Tree". According to Judith the pair of songs represent "the two sides of Christmas, the joy and the bittersweet nostalgia, the light and the dark."

On the album's title track - the dark side Judith mentioned - Harry opines, "We always hear about what holiday time is like for Santa and his elves. But what's going on around that time with the Supreme Evil One? This song fills that much-needed void and swings as well. Maybe the most beautiful, moving Christmas song ever, played and sung with restrained yet unmistakable emotion."
And, to ensure the project wasn't entirely sacrilegious, Judith's second song "The Dancing Tree" features her singing about "the simplest of pleasures that we remember and hopefully pass on from generation to generation." Judith adds that she "loves singing this song because it's honest and true, and it makes people cry... in a good way!"
All proceeds from the EP will benefit the mental health non-profit organization BRING CHANGE 2 MIND and it's UK counterpart SANE, whilst Harry and Judith's holiday sing-along tour "Christmas Without Tears (Does This Tree Make Me Look Fat?)", will donate proceeds to local mental health facilities in each city the tour stops this December.
"I'm glad we get to raise some money for mental health organizations via these songs and our annual Christmas shows," says Judith. "It's a stressful time when a lot of people (myself included) struggle... It takes a lot of humor and humanity to get through. I hope these songs and our equally reverent and irreverent shows help in some small way to touch on and connect with that."
