New Clip From the Acclaimed Documentary Features Nick Cave Discussing The Folk Legend's Perfect Song: WATCH

"An Elemental Musical Force...An Excellent Documentary" - New York Times, Critic's Pick

Today, Karen Dalton: In My Own Time opens in theaters via Greenwich Entertainment, to acclaim from The New York TimesWashington PostGuardian and more. As the debut documentary from directors Robert Yapkowitz and Richard Peete, the project has grown from a pipe dream conceived in a Brooklyn bar eight years ago, to an indispensable portrait of the "folk legend time shouldn't have forgotten" (Rolling Stone). Featuring the largest collection of source material that has likely ever been gathered from the life of the late icon, In My Own Time not only honors the musical impact of Karen Dalton's singular talent, but saves her largely misunderstood story from near devastation. Between radio interviews, TV appearances, unpublished photos and a rare, riveting recording of "Remembering Mountains" - one of the only original songs Karen Dalton ever performed - Yapkowitz and Peete worked closely with Dalton's family and estate to unearth pieces of history they were told never existed, even before a 2018 fire destroyed all of Karen Dalton's personal archives.

Watch the film's trailer, plus a special clip unveiled today, where Nick Cave describes the time he heard Karen Dalton's 1971 classic, "Something On Your Mind": https://youtu.be/Wfop-VkwMok

Nick Cave says, "Through the course of that song, I had to stop the car, drive to the side of the road, and I was in tears. I really felt a kind of shift in myself when I heard this song, and it really changed a lot of how I looked at music. I think that the Bad Seeds have been attempting to write that song for years now...it wasn't that it was sad that made me cry. It was that it was perfect. There's something about human achievement, when it reaches so high in such a casual way, and can do something that is so utterly perfect."
