National Tour Kicks Off November 27th

Today, beloved singer and composer Kat Edmonson announces her new holiday album ‘Have Your Merry Christmas With Me’, set to drop November 6th. It’s a sophisticated, elegant and joyful journey through the holiday season and the music that has defined it for decades, but featuring Kat’s signature sparkling twist on the jazz and traditional pop genres.

Once described by the New York Times as having “an equal foothold in jazz, cabaret and vintage cosmopolitanism pop", Kat Edmonson’s intoxicating vocals and classically modern arrangements on ‘Have Your Merry Christmas With Me’ create a truly timeless holiday record.

Today’s album announcement coincides with a forthcoming national tour reveal (dates below) and the release of the LP’s first single, “It’s Snowing” – a pining reinvention of the Allen Toussaint-penned Irma Thomas classic “It’s Raining”. Listen HERE.

Arranged by Kat, the album unfolds as a comforting trip through holiday nostalgia. Calling to mind childhood memories of cranberry & popcorn garland, listening to Nat King Cole by the fire, and enjoying hot apple cider while reconnecting with loved ones, ‘Have Your Merry Christmas With Me’ feels so intimate it’s like you’re hearing these classics for the first time, performed by a close friend.

“The album is a distillation of what the holidays mean to me — love, hope, joy in the face of loss, and a healthy dose of nostalgia,” says Kat.

“It’s Snowing” joins two original tracks penned by Kat, the title track “Have Your Merry Christmas With Me” and “Hush! There’s a Falling Snow.” Elsewhere on the album finds spirited takes on beloved holiday staples like “Jingle Bells”, "Hark! The Herald Angels Swing" and “Santa Baby”, as well as modern versions of classics like Nancy Wilson’s “That’s What I Want For Christmas”, The Andrews Sisters’ “I’d Like To Hitch a Ride with Santa Claus” and an especially effective moody interpretation of Wham!’s “Last Christmas”.

With a versatile vocal tone that could feel just at home on a classic 50s record as it does on her own records, Kat Edmonson cites greats like Dinah Washington, Ray Charles, Blossom Dearie and Quincy Jones as her musical influences while also reveling in seasonal classic films like Miracle on 34th Street and Love Actually to give a jolt of holiday inspiration to the album.

A Songwriters Hall of Fame award-winning singer and songwriter, Kat has achieved numerous number one albums on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart, has appeared on Austin City LimitsTiny Desk Concerts, A Prairie Home Companion, The Tonight Show and The Late Show, has performed at venues and festivals around the world including Carnegie Hall, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Blue Note in Japan, and has toured alongside Lyle Lovett, Michael Kiwanuka, Chris Isaak, Shawn Colvin, and Gary Clark Jr.

Her original songs have appeared in film, television, and advertising. Edmonson also appeared as a 1930s jazz singer in Woody Allen’s Café Society and made her theatrical debut in the Drama Desk Award-nominated off-Broadway production The Hang by Taylor Mac and Matt Ray.
