Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College Celebrates 10 Years

Grammy-Winning soul singer Gladys Knight, folk singer Peter Yarrow, The TEN Tenors and Sweet Honey in the Rock, among others, will take the stage in Queens this season

(New York, NY): Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College (KCA) celebrates 10 years of dedication to music, art and culture this Fall. Kupferberg Presents, the entertainment hub of the Center, will mark the occasion with a vibrant roster of world-class artists who reflect the rich diversity of Queens--aptly called "the world's borough" by Queens BP Melinda Katz.

"It is very gratifying that the Kupferberg Center for the Arts has grown and thrived since its founding in 2007, said Queens College President Félix V. Matos Rodríguez. "Providing our neighbors in Queens and the greater metropolitan area first-rate, culturally diverse entertainment will continue to be the KCA mission in the years and decades to come."

The 2017-18 season kicks off on October 28, with singer-songwriter Peter Yarrow, one-third of the legendary folk trio, Peter, Paul and Mary, who gained fame for their hit children's tune, "Puff the Magic Dragon"

Later this fall, on November 9, "Empress of Soul," Gladys Knight, who has enjoyed number-one hits in Pop, Gospel, R&B and Adult Contemporary categories -- as well as a spot on VH1's '100 Greatest Women of Rock' list -- will bring her pipes to KCA for "An Evening with Gladys Knight."

The globe-trotting vocal Australian ensemble, The TEN Tenors will make a stop at KCA on their "Home for the Holidays" tour, on December 10, performing their signature combination of classic compositions, and contemporary hits.

Sweet Honey in the Rock, a Grammy-winning all-female African American a capella ensemble, dedicated to expressing African American women's history through song and dance, will take the stage at KCA on January 14.

Sums up KCA Executive Director Jeff Rosenstock: "In this 10th anniversary year, we thank the extraordinary artists of our new season and the many talented performers such as Johnny Mathis, Carol Burnett and New Shanghai Circus who have graced our stages. We also thank our wonderful supporters: the Kupferberg family, New York Community Bank, and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs to name a few, as well as our Arts Advisory Board and staff. And most of all, we thank our patrons from many communities throughout Queens, Long Island and the rest of the metropolitan area who come to enjoy Kupferberg Presents entertainment."
