“There is such a variety of styles in Disney songs; there is truly something to inspire everyone” – Lang Lang

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” the runaway hit from Disney’s Encanto, is the latest track to be released from Lang Lang’s forthcoming album The Disney BookReimagined in a stunning solo piano version, the single will be available globally from this Friday, July 29th.

The energetic new arrangement of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s popular song is among the tracks on The Disney Book, which will be released on September 16th on Deutsche Grammophon, in collaboration with Disney Music Group. The album celebrates of 100 years of The Walt Disney Company – tracing the history of music in Disney films from the 1920s to the present day, whilst also reflecting Lang Lang’s own personal journey.

Lang Lang instantly fell in love with “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” on first hearing it last year. His wife, Gina Alice, soon discovered there was another Encanto fan in the family. “Our one-and-a-half-year-old son loves Disney,” recalls Lang Lang. “Gina played ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ and danced a tango with him – he was so happy!”

The new arrangement was written by four-time Grammy®-winner Gordon Goodwin. The American composer, pianist, saxophonist and arranger, who began his career as a musician at Disneyland in California, has transformed Miranda’s music into a virtuosic miniature for Lang Lang while preserving the humour and charm of the original.

The Disney Book features joyous new renditions of songs from Pinocchio and The Jungle Book to Frozen and Aladdin, reimagined for solo piano or piano and full orchestra by some of the world’s top arrangers. It also sees Lang Lang joined by several collaborators from across the globe including Andrea BocelliJon BatisteSebastián Yatra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with conductor Robert Ziegler. Every track on the album has been specially created for Lang Lang and together they showcase the piano’s versatility. “These new versions were virtually composed into my fingers,” Lang Lang notes.

Much like his hugely successful 2019 album Piano Book, which brought together some of Lang Lang’s favourite pieces as a way to encourage budding young musicians, The Disney Book aims to inspire people of all ages to explore classical music. It is a heartfelt gift to all generations. Lang Lang concludes, “I hope that people of all ages will enjoy this recording and experience the joy that we all felt the first time we saw a Disney film.”
