Lauren Weintraub Releases Debut EP 'This Is Your Brain On Love' Out Today (11.4)

Today (11.4), one of Nashville's most promising newcomers, Lauren Weintraub, releases her debut EP, 'This Is Your Brain On Love' (via Virgin Music). Co-written entirely by Weintraub, the six-track project takes listeners on a musical trip through every facet of love — from the butterflies around a first-time, teenage crush to the devastation and personal growth that arrives in the aftermath of heartbreak.

Referring to the music she creates as "nonfiction," Weintraub wrote more than 800 songs leading up to this project, resulting in the Boston native-turned-Nashville resident detailing her own experiences with love (and lack-thereof) through each genre-bending track, as she continues to build on her signature style — tapping into everything from the raw and real comfort of Lori McKenna, to the pop-driven, evocative nature of Taylor Swift.

"'This Is Your Brain On Love' is the culmination of the lessons I've learned in falling in and out of love in my teens and early twenties," Weintraub explains. "I could not be more proud of these six tracks that made the cut for my debut EP. They cover everything from the 'honeymoon phase' of a relationship to the gut-wrenching heartbreak that comes with a breakup. The entire project really describes how blind, crazy, angry, obsessed, and euphoric love can make you feel — but regardless of the hurt, do we do it all over again and again? We absolutely do. Welcome to: your brain on love."

Kicking off the project with heartbreak, "Boston," a song co-written with Music City hitmaker Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift), finds Weintraub making a reflective, emotional return to her hometown post-breakup, while the spicy standout, "Ex Appeal," shares a clever, yet cautionary message to anyone considering revisiting a former flame.

The already viral fan-favorite, "Missing You," which has garnered nearly 8M streams since its release earlier this year, spotlights Weintraub's unmatched lyricism, while redefining the proper approach to letting go — something easier said than done. The previously-unreleased "Over Her Over Here" follows, bringing the Nashville newcomer's unmatched vocal prowess to the center stage, as she finally closes the door on a toxic on-again, off-again relationship, while "Before We Knew Too Much" serves as a nostalgia-driven ode to the all-too-familiar excitement that comes with a first love — a wistful, naive and unforgettable feeling that can never be matched after experiencing true heartache.

Capping the project with a spitfire singalong, "Not Like I’m in Love with You" (nearly 6M streams to date) offers up a catchy, pop-infused take on the confusion around falling for a best friend, highlighting Weintraub’s spunky personality alongside a catchy hook that is sure to become a live fan-favorite.

As the flagship songwriter signed to Brandy Clark's publishing company, All BC Music, Weintraub is busy making waves in Music City and beyond — already amassing 34M+ streams and being named a HITS Magazine "One To Watch" for 2022. Armed with vulnerable lyrics, a sassy demeanor and raw, unmatched vocals, the 24-year-old continues to captivate fans around the globe, garnering more than 700k+ followers across social media and earning a nomination for "TikTok Songwriter of the Year" at this year's iHeartRadio Awards.
