Gracie Lawrence Cast As Season 3 Regular In MAX’s Sex Lives Of College Girls

April 5, 2024 - Lawrence — the 8-piece band fronted by siblings Gracie and Clyde Lawrence — has released their first single of 2024. The 80’s-charged “Guy I Used To Be” is a high energy soul-pop ode to that one person that can change your life, and will be featured on their forthcoming album Family Business. The single release is also accompanied by the just-announced news that Gracie, an accomplished actress, will be a series regular in the upcoming third season of Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble’s The Sex Lives of College Girls on Max, playing the character of Kacey.

Says Lawrence on today’s release: ““Guy I Used To Be” is a song about how the right person can totally change your life for the better. Whether it be a new romantic partner or even just a new friendship, sometimes having your life turned upside-down can be a great thing. We had been listening to a lot of Huey Lewis, Michael McDonald, and 80s-era Michael Jackson, so we tried to bring some of the joy that we feel when we listen to those records into this one.”

Family Business is the follow-up to 2021’s Hotel TV and more information, including release date and track list, will be revealed soon. Lawrence also recently announced their biggest headline tour to date across North America, the UK and Europe: 40 shows beginning July 5 in London, including iconic venues Radio City Music Hall on September 19 and The Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 9. A number of shows have already sold out. The full Family Business Tour itinerary and ticket information is here: lawrencetheband.com/tour

Lawrence spent the second half of 2023 on a 65-date stadium tour with the Jonas Brothers that included two hometown shows at Yankee Stadium and wrapped at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in December. Along the way Lawrence shared two new singles, “i’m confident that i’m insecure” and “23,” as well as their trademark “acoustic-ish” renditions of both tracks. They also released an 8-part docuseries on YouTube that captures the highlights and challenges of a proudly DIY organization of eight longtime friends staging their first headline tour following the COVID-19 shutdown. Additional episodes will be released this year. Appearances tied to the new music and Jonas Brothers tour include the Zach Sang Show and Tamron Hall, performing “23” at Jingle Ball, and features with SeventeenAccessEntertainment TonightNew York Post, and WNYC.

Lawrence has captivated a huge audience of die-hard fans with a distinct sound rooted in classic artists like Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman and Aretha Franklin, spun together with a high-energy pop edge. Their clever and brilliantly-crafted original songs are driven by Clyde’s keyboards, raspy voice, a rowdy horn section and Gracie’s vocals soaring on top. A beloved live band, Lawrence brings a party to the stage: a fun, full-throttle experience full of musical fireworks.

About Lawrence:

Clyde and Gracie Lawrence are a New York City-raised sibling duo that have been writing songs and playing together since early childhood. What started out as a duo turned into an eight-piece band of musician friends from childhood and college. Lawrence has reached remarkable heights, including performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Today Show. The first band to release music on Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/artist Jon Bellion’s label, their 2021 album Hotel TV has over 60 million streams on Spotify, and tens of millions of streams across all major platforms. Lead single “Don’t Lose Sight” hit #33 on Top 40 radio and was played on over 100 multi-format stations across the country. They’ve played major festivals including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Firefly, Okeechobee, Hangout, Summerfest, and sold out three consecutive nights at Brooklyn Steel in 2022, their first-ever Lawrence festival featuring special guests and non-repeating sets. Clyde also made international headlines when he testified before a Senate hearing on the ticketing industry in January of 2023.

In addition to Lawrence, Clyde and Gracie have also amassed considerable resumes with other artistic pursuits. Clyde has written songs and scores for film and television, including Disney’s Noelle (2019), Steven Spielberg’s Animaniacs (2020), Landline(2017), The Rewrite (2015), Music and Lyrics (2007), and even Miss Congeniality(2000), for which he wrote the theme song at age 6. Gracie, in addition to her new role in Sex Lives of College Girls, has appeared in the Showtime drama Billions and the CBS All-Access murder mystery One Dollar. Gracie has also appeared on Broadway in Brighton Beach Memoirs (2009), in films such as The Sitter (2011) and Did You Hear About the Morgans? (2009), and in TV shows including The Good Wife (2012), The Americans (2014), and Younger (2015).
