Today (9.9), rising singer-songwriter Leah Nobel releases her new song “Art Collector,” which offers an introspective look at the beauty of life, creating a breathtaking gallery of memories out of even the most mundane moments. It is the second single from her forthcoming album ‘Mother Tongue,’ which comes out October 14th via Big Yellow Dog Music.

“It feels sort of funny to express this, but I spend a lot of time thinking about what happens after we die,” says Nobel. “I have always heard the expression ‘you can’t take it with you when you go’ as a reference to not acquiring too many physical belongings or ‘stuff’ while you’re on this earth. But sometimes I like to imagine what you can take with you when you go. And one of my favorite imagined scenarios is the idea that you can take your most beautiful memories.”

“Art Collector” plays on our desire to freeze special moments in time and collect them like works of art, acting as a modern pop counterpart to Jim Croce’s classic song “Time In A Bottle.” On the track, Nobel, whose songwriting masterfully romanticizes everyday life, reminds us that these experiences hold far more value than any net income or physical possessions. From taking vacations in France to simply eating mashed potatoes with gravy in your living room, Nobel holds the pictures of these memories close to her heart and at the forefront of her mind.

Nobel is known for her unique sound that “crosses genre lines between folk, pop, and alternative” (American Songwriter), ethereal vocals and metaphorical lyricism. “Art Collector” follows Leah’s lead single from ‘Mother Tongue,’ the coming-of-age track “Late Bloomer.” Across ten tracks, the album dances between folk and pop, personal stories and playful fiction, accompanied by Nobel’s ethereal vocals and airy instrumentals.
