LETTER FROM LA LA BROOKS

Well, ready or not, I'm back with a brand new record!

You know, I started with the Crystals when I was 13 years old. Phil Spector gave me Da Doo Ron Ron and Then He Kissed Me, and so many fantastic songs that have been my signature for so many years! I never thought I'd be recording a new album for you, but here I am, back again!

I almost had a chance a few years ago, when Phil Spector's arranger Jack Nitzsche, got in touch, making good on an old promise to record me again. Just as everything was in place for us to get started in the studio, Jack died suddenly. Many years have passed, but I still miss him.

You know, one of my favorite songs back then was by Willy DeVille. His I Broke That Promise featured Jack's incredible arrangement. Now, Jack's promise to me has been fulfilled so many years later, with Billy and Miriam of Norton Records, giving me an opportunity to record my version of Willy and Jack's song on a new album of my music.

The lesson I've learned is to never give up on your dreams no matter what they may be, and that you're never to old to have your best dreams come true. With this album, I first searched for the child who's still within me, with the young voice of the 1960's. Then as we got deeper into recording, I found the voice that came from my struggles, which is the woman's voice as I grew up. Going even deeper, I found a hard rock sound which represents the strength that I have today. I wanted to show you all of my voices, all of me. And that's why this album is called All Or Nothing.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank Billy and Miriam, my producers Mick and Matt and my two sons, Idris and Hakim, who contributed some of the fantastic backing vocals. I also want to thank all of the great musicians who played on the album.

But most of all, I want to thank you, the fans, for taking this long road with the little girl from Brooklyn, who practiced singing on school steps and street corners and hallways where the big echoes were. Those echoes are still here, and so am I.

Love to you all,

La La
