Lido Pimienta has composed the score for a new performance by contemporary choreographer Andrea Miller (GALLIM) that made its world premiere at the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala last night on September 30th. Pimienta performed the piece live on stage with the company; five additional presentations run through October 12 at Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Pimienta is one of only a few female composers in the Company's history to create a commissioned score, as well as the Company's first-ever female composer of color. This year’s Gala co-chairs include Sarah Jessica Parker, Georgina Bloomberg, Laverne Cox, Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy, Diane Kruger, Mazdack and Zanna Rassi, Deborah Roberts and Al Roker, and Jordan Roth.

Her own fall tour will get underway at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 15 and includes several performances with Sylvan Esso including two nights at Terminal 5 in NYC on November 15 and 16. It was also just announced that she will make her debut at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN this February.  

Lido Pimienta reached tremendous new heights with her 2020 release of Miss Colombia (ANTI-), which was praised widely by the NY Times, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, NPR and far beyond. The album earned Pimienta her first GRAMMY nomination as well as her first Latin GRAMMY nomination. She also performed at the 2021 GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony. Pimienta’s debut album La Papessa won Canada’s prestigious Polaris Prize. A composer, electrifying live performer, prolific visual artist and collaborator with the likes of Bomba Estereo and Ricky Reed, Pimienta’s singular vision is boundless.
