"I've loved this song for quite some time and wanted to take a shot at recording it," says Mize. "When I mentioned it to my producer Dan Agee, he said he was aware of the song because Jessie had brought it to him earlier but neither of us had landed on a duet partner. I've always thought Jessie was a badass, so that kind of made it a done deal on a duet partner. The writers on this song are top-tier, including our late pal Abe Stoklasa, who wrote my breakthrough single 'Better Off Gone.'"
"I have always been such a fan of Logan’s voice, and as soon as I heard this demo, written by some of my favorite writers, I knew it was a song I wanted to sing on," says Decker. "I couldn’t get it out of my head after one listen!"
“If You’re Up” is an emotional and relatable song for anybody who’s ever been drawn back to an ex-flame, following the thoughts of two former lovers who don’t want to spend the night alone.
The track was co-written by the beloved late songwriter Abe Stoklasa (Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton) alongside GRAMMY-winning writer and producer Daniel Tashian (Kacey Musgraves, Jonas Brothers) and ACM-nominated writer Sarah Buxton (Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line).
“If You’re Up” marks Mize’s first release of 2024 and follows his past two singles “Out Of State Plates” and “Rural Route Kid.” To stay up-to-date, visit loganmize.com.
