Marfa Isn’t Ready To Let Love Go On New Song “Last Time Last”

Americana-rock duo Marfa hangs onto love just a little longer on their new song “Last Time Last,” out today (6.26) via Big Machine Records. Featuring the duo’s signature 70s-inspired warmth, the song fuses atmospheric pop-rock textures and retro sensibilities with the groove of a Texas-fused pedal steel. Written by Marfa’s Bryce Menchaca and Kellen Wall, alongside Andrew DeRoberts (Tate McRae, Bon Jovi, Brothers Osborne) who also produced the track, “Last Time Last” captures the feeling of a lingering romance that isn’t quite ready to let go.

“Last Time Last is about when a relationship is on a collision course for an inevitable end but you both know it,” says Menchaca and Wall. “Trying to make that last time count and making sure it’s the very last time you see one another. It’s a double meaning, making the last time last can either mean ‘make it count’ or ‘this is the final time’. There’s also a hint of the other party in the relationship moving on faster than you and how those hardships can take on forms like tequila.”

Previously named “Best Breakout Folk Duo of 2025” by Westword and featured in HITS Daily Double’s "New & Developing” roundup, Marfa is continuing to build momentum. The duo made an appearance at Laurel Cove Music Festival, alongside Kashus Culpepper, Evan Honer, The Creekers, and others, on June 11, and brought their unmistakably authentic Americana-rock sound to Nashville’s Skinny Dennis last night (6.25).

Marfa will support Willow Avalon at The Lincoln Cheyenne on July 23, before returning to their Denver roots for an Underground Music Showcase appearance and then opening for Jason Boland & The Stragglers at the famed Gruene Hall in Texas. Marfa has previously toured with The Head and The Heart, 49 Winchester, Southall, The Mavericks, and others.

ABOUT MARFA:

Forged in Colorado with western influences and a shared appreciation for the Laurel Canyon music scene, Marfa delivers an unmistakably authentic Americana-Rock sound that is as familiar as your favorite pair of jeans and as fresh as the morning Rocky Mountain air. The duo (Bryce Menchaca and Kellen Wall) first introduced their classic-meets-contemporary musical style through their debut track “66,” produced by GRAMMY Award winner Nick Waterhouse (Leon Bridges, Jon Batiste) and recorded at Los Angeles’ legendary EastWest Studios, the same room that gave life to Pet Sounds and California Dreamin’. Momentum continued with the fan-favorite “Daisy,” now climbing at radio (#4 at Americana and #39 at AAA). After becoming the first act to sign with Ascend Music (a division of Big Machine Label Group) in July 2025, Marfa released “Little Miss Two Time,” which KCRW’s Today’s Top Tune praised as “music that ties Laurel Canyon to West Texas,” calling their sound "a proverbial hay bale of beautiful harmonies and foot-stomping good times.” Now with “American Lonely,” “Little Lowdown,” and “A Million Ways,” the duo continues to bring "Denver Americana to the masses” (Westwordas they invite listeners into their expansive sonic imagination. Recently named “Best Breakout Folk Duo” in Westword’s Best of Denver 2025 issue, Marfa is quickly emerging as one of Americana’s most compelling new acts.
