Founded in 2020 by Marta Eliza Miller and her mother, Corrina Clover Miller, MEMF grew from Marta's personal experience navigating scoliosis as a competitive ice dancer. After her spinal curve reached 48 degrees, Marta continued training and competing while wearing a back brace for up to 20 hours a day. Experiencing firsthand the physical challenges, body-image struggles, anxiety and isolation that often accompany adolescent scoliosis, Marta and Corrina established the foundation to ensure young patients and families have access to education, emotional support and resources.
In under six years, MEMF has helped raise more than $1 million for scoliosis awareness and research, including more than $475,000 donated to the Spine Center at the Jackie and Gene Autry Orthopedic Center at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). In 2026, the foundation further expanded its national impact with the launch of a $250,000 nationwide grant initiativesupporting scoliosis research, education, awareness and patient care across all 50 states and Puerto Rico. The initiative builds on MEMF's relationships with leading institutions including Boston Children's Hospital, Duke Children's, Phoenix Children's and Arkansas Children's Hospital, while extending support to pediatric hospitals, healthcare providers, advocacy organizations and community partners nationwide. “The work of social impact doesn’t pause when conditions get harder, and this year’s Anthem Winners proved it,” said Anthem Awards General Manager Patricia McLoughlin. “Facing new challenges, they kept building, kept organizing, and kept delivering for the people and causes they serve. They set a new standard for good, one defined as much by persistence as by results.”
“To receive a Silver Anthem Award for a mission that began with our family's personal experience is incredibly meaningful,” shared Marta Eliza Miller and Corrina Clover Miller, Co-Founders of the Marta Eliza Miller Foundation. “What started as a journey to better understand scoliosis has grown into a national effort to ensure that young people facing this diagnosis feel informed, supported and empowered. This recognition reinforces the importance of early detection, education and compassionate patient care, and inspires us to continue expanding our reach. Every child deserves the opportunity to stand tall, be strong and dream big.”
The 6th Annual Anthem Awards received more than 2,500 submissions from 43 countries worldwide, marking the organization's largest competition to date. The Anthem Awards recognize the work of organizations, individuals and initiatives setting the standard for good worldwide.
