Today, Nashville singer/songwriter Matt Urmy shares his new song “Blind” off his forthcoming album ‘South of the Sky’ - out January 15, 2021. With “Blind,” Urmy muses on a singular human life trying to keep its balance amidst societal unrest and social turbulence. The song is further propelled by the masterful addition of fellow Nashville musician Leticia Wolf, whom Urmy also collaborated with for his 2017 album ‘Out of the Ashes.’

With “Blind,” Urmy cements the record’s message of defiance and how society can only defy its feelings of hopelessness together. Read more about Urmy’s call for rock ‘n’ roll to step up and joins arms in a recent interview with American Songwriter.
“Blind” is about trying to keep balance amidst the turbulence coming at oneself from the outside world. Its sibling song, “1,000 Waves,” is about trying to maintain balance amidst the internal battles one fights.
“Blind” follows previous releases “Ghost of an Old Revolution” and “Raging Hearts,” which was added to NPR’s New Music Friday playlist upon its release. Blind is
‘South of the Sky’ is a concept album that explores the multi-dimensionality of human life. Throughout it, Urmy showcases universality and the inevitability of coming to grips with our place in society, politics, relationships (with others and ourselves), and spirituality. Each track is filled with subtle references to the other tracks on the album, and each song on Side A has a mirror image, or other side of the coin, sibling song on Side B.

Born in New York City and raised in Nashville, TN, Matt Urmy is a singer/songwriter, poet and entrepreneur. He founded Artist Growth, a cloud-based artist management & record label collaboration platform, which services both Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group as well as artist managers at companies like Red Light Management, Vector Management, C3, Maverick, ROAR and many others. Urmy lives and works in Nashville with his partner Jaime - a pastry chef at popular East Nashville restaurant Lockeland Table - and their two boys, Ezra and Ocean. Matt’s debut album, 2017’s Out Of The Ashes, was a Rolling Stone favorite and compelled them to call Urmy, who dueted with the late John Prine on the album, an Artist To Watch.
