Follows Release Of His New Children's Book Go Ask The Moon, Featureing The Adventures Of The Non-Binary Character ‘Hoo’

East Nashville-based singer/songwriter Matt Urmy unveils the new single “Lightning” today from his forthcoming album ‘South of the Sky’ - out January 15, 2021. The song features the addition of vocalist Leticia Wolf, whom Urmy also collaborated with for his single “Blind” and his 2017 album ‘Out of the Ashes.’ “Lightning” begins the descent downward with a dramatic guitar solo and Wolf’s deep vocals where two sides of the same consciousness dance around each other. It’s a song rooted in the metaphysical space of the mind and heart.

Earlier album singles “Raging Hearts” and "Blind" landed on NPR Music's New Music Friday playlists and American Songwriter said the new music “boldly dives headfirst into the multi-dimensionality of human nature/”

Urmy’s upcoming concept album ‘South of the Sky’ attempts to explore and celebrate the multi- dimensionality of human life. Each song is filled with subtle references to the other tracks on the album, and each song on Side A has a mirror image, or sibling song on Side B.

Urmy also recently released his first-ever children’s book, Go Ask The Moon, inspired by his background in childcare, and own fatherhood journey as the father of two sons. Go Ask The Moon follows its non-binary protagonist Hoo, as they attempt to discover what makes them unique. As Hoo attempts to find the peace of a good night’s sleep, as well as passion, they come across various creatures of the night who help guide them. The book follows Urmy’s two previous collections of poems, Ghosts In A House (2007) and The Rain In The Bell (2015).
