Fans can watch the once-in-a-lifetime performance clip via Pitchfork, pairing together Mavis Staples, Win Butler and Régine Chassagne of Arcade Fire for a special cover of the Talking Heads’ song “Slippery People.” The event is to be aired in its entirety on Sunday, April 16th at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT on AXS TV and the deluxe CD/DVD of ‘Mavis Staples: I’ll Take You There – An All-Star Concert Celebration’ is now available to pre-order at all retailers including the exclusive merch bundles at the Blackbird Presents shop: http://smarturl.it/TakeYouThereDLX. The Staples Singers originally covered the song on their 1984 album ‘Turning Point’ and it was an apt cover since, as the Chicago Tribune noted in their review of the concert, “’Slippery People” is a song that David Byrne has said he wrote with the Staples’ sanctified gospel in mind.”

The concert event was created, filmed, recorded, and produced by Blackbird Presents at Chicago’s historic Auditorium Theatre and features over twenty performances by artists including Gregg Allman, Ryan Bingham, Eric Church, Otis Clay, Patty Griffin, Glen Hansard, Emmylou Harris, Taj Mahal, Michael McDonald, Buddy Miller, Keb’ Mo’, Aaron Neville, Joan Osborne, Widespread Panic, Grace Potter, Bonnie Raitt, Jeff Tweedy, Spencer Tweedy, and special appearances by Mavis herself.
