Breakout Billboard Artist Miist Shares “Could You Lend Me a Smile – 12 Language Global Edition”

World Record Song with Global Grammy Winners

Tuesday, August 19 – Abandoned at five years old and surviving a terminal cancer diagnosis by 28, singer-songwriter Miist defied the odds when she discovered her musical gift at 34 and last year, became the 1st native Chinese artist to break into Billboard’s Top 25 AC chart

Today, her recent world record breaking global anthem “Could You Lend Me a Smile” — with multiple Grammy winning global artists and contributions in 15 languages across five continents — is now available as one new single and music video, Could You Lend Me a Smile – 12 Language Global Edition, thanks to the voices of over a dozen women and the global instrumentalists.

Produced by two-time Grammy winning producer Kitt WakeleyCould You Lend Me a Smile – 12 Language Global Edition features languages from Polish to Portuguese, and world instrumentalists like pipa virtuoso Gao Hong, world premier guzheng player Bei Bei (Kung Fu Panda, Mulan), sitarist Rajib Karmaker (Murder Mystery 2, Bird Karma), as well as Grammy-winning cellist Eru Matsumoto and violinist Nathalie Bonin.

With now over 16 versions, including American Sign Language featured in Apple Music’s accessibility playlist, and a world record for Most Languages for Individual Music Videos Released Simultaneously, the song was inspired by the story of a young man in Tokyo who passed away alone in his apartment and was not found for weeks, a heartbreaking case of what’s become known as “Lonely Death.” Miist wondered if a simple smile from a passerby could have changed his fate, a step towards combating the loneliness epidemic facing so many (The Atlantic & Inc). That moment birthed the song, and the spark for a global movement.
