DEBUT LP 'DELIVERY,' PRODUCED BY JOHN CONGLETON, OUT JULY 13 ON ROUNDER RECORDS

Less than a month before the release of her John Congleton-produced debut LP ‘Delivery’ (July 13/Rounder), Mikaela Davis has unveiled two songs that pay homage to an early musical influence while simultaneously catapulting her towards her future. The video for her recent single “Other Lover” premiered Wednesday with a Ladygunn Q&A. Today, she reconnects with one of her early songwriting loves with a passionate cover of Elliott Smith’s “Half Right.” Mikaela will play Baby’s All Right in New York City on July 26 to celebrate her album’s release, and will follow that with a headlining, 22-city tour in the US, UK, and Europe. Full tour dates below.

Listen to “Half Right”

Says Mikaela of “Half Right,” “First year of high school on the school bus; I was sitting in front of my now-longtime bandmate Alex listening to my iPod. He asked what I was listening to and proceeded to scroll through my library. I agreed to let Alex put all new music on my iPod which led me to discover many artists like Sufjan Stevens, Ben Folds, Saves The Day... among them was Elliott Smith. I was floored by his work and I actually stopped writing music altogether for a few years until I rebuilt confidence in my own songwriting ability. Elliott has been a big influence and I'm excited to share my version of ‘Half Right’!”

Ladygunn has praised Mikaela as “blending ethereal, acid-soaked Polaroid images of the 1970s with a David Lynch-ian dreamscape.” “Other Lover” was named as WXPN’s “Gotta Hear Song of the Week” and was featured on Spotify’s Fresh Folk playlist when it was released June 1.  The first single, “Delivery” was included on New Music Friday and other hot Spotify playlists as well.

Read a Q&A with Mikaela at Girlboss on her music and self-care habits.

Mikaela crafts sweet and salty songs that twist, float, and constantly surprise. ‘Delivery’ shows off her wise-beyond-her-years songwriting abilities as well as her classical training – it straddles the lines of folk and funk, AM rock and 80s pop experimentation. ‘Delivery’ was produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Future Islands, Angel Olsen) and it's already been hailed by Uproxx as "a sonic and stunning 10-track, genre-bending record."

Mikaela just wrapped up a month-long, sold-out national tour with Lake Street Dive and has previously toured with Bon Iver, San Fermin, the Punch Brothers, Watkins Family Hour, The Staves and more.
