Mill Creek Entertainment To Release Emmy®-Winning 90s Sitcom “Mad About You” In Its Entirety For The First Time Ever
A Complete Series Release Loaded With Bonus Features Slated for May 2016Minneapolis, MN (March 3, 2016) Mill Creek Entertainment, a recognized leader in the independent home entertainment industry will release the beloved, multi-award winning series Mad About You on DVD May 3. This robust complete series collection will include all 164 episodes from the series’ seven season run and will also include a host of bonus features including commentaries, featurettes, a blooper reel and more. This 14 DVD collection will be available for $69.98 MSRP.
Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt star as Paul and Jaime Buchman, young urban newlyweds trying to sustain wedded bliss despite the demands of their respective careers, meddling friends and family and the chaos of living in Manhattan. As lovable characters tossed into both achingly real and hilarious situations, this highly-rated sitcom gives an intimate depiction of a couple trying their hardest to keep love alive in the midst of all the madness that modern marriage can bring.
“We are thrilled to release Mad About You in its entirety and to finally provide fans with the last two seasons of the series which have never been made available on home video,” says Jeff Hayne, VP of Content Acquisitions for Mill Creek Entertainment. “In this era of binge watching TV content, we are excited that customers will be able to add this endearing series to their DVD collection so they can watch and enjoy now and for years to come.”
Mad About You co-creator Paul Reiser states that he is “very excited that this release is finally coming to pass. I had honestly not known that there was such a demand for the show - or that not all episodes were even available - until I kept hearing from so many people out there asking for it. Coupled with the success of the new Chinese version of Mad About You, and the plan for more remakes in several other territories, it seems there's some sort of “Mad About You Moment" right now. No idea why, but it makes me smile. The cast and all the talented writers and producers all put so much of our hearts and souls into these shows, so the fact that it still resonates with people over the world is a very gratifying thing.”
In addition to Reiser and Hunt, the stellar supporting cast includes Anne Ramsay as Jamie’s sister Lisa, John Pankow as Paul’s cousin Ira, Leila Kenzle as Jamie’s best friend Fran, Richard Kind as Fran’s ex-husband Mark and who could forget the Buchman’s lovable mutt Murray, known off-screen as Maui. A number of popular stars are also featured in recurring or guest starring roles including Carol Burnett, Lisa Kudrow, Hank Azaria, Cyndi Lauper, Mel Brooks, Bruce Willis, Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres, Billy Joel and many more.
Mad About You originally aired on NBC from 1992-1999. Created by Paul Reiser and Danny Jacobson, the series won a total of 12 Emmy® awards, 4 Golden Globe awards, including Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical and a Peabody Award in 1994 for its “dead-on depiction of married life in the 1990s that offers insight into our everyday experiences even as it makes us laugh.”
