New Orleans' Motel Radio Share A "Warm And Radiant" (Atwood) Ode To Frontline-Worker Loved Ones On "Stress"

New Orleans four-piece Motel Radio have returned with "Stress," a heartwarming and autobiographical account of supporting a frontline-working significant other in the early days of the COVID pandemic. Penned by the band's Ian Wellman, who moved to San Francisco in early March of 2020 to be with his partner - a nurse at a local hospital - the song's lyrics explore Wellman trying to find the words to support his loved one through those unprecedented and unimaginable times. Wellman sings: "Baby, how was work? / I know you didn’t wanna get out of bed / It’s crazy at the hospital / They’re gonna want you back soon," as he emphasizes the importance of sharing your feelings and trying to keep things in a positive perspective; even during the most chaotic of times.

The latest offering from their new album The Garden (out September 2), "Stress" is a poignant example of the ten-song collection's central theme: that hard times are not to be run from or ignored, but embraced for the beauty at their roots. It deals head-on with mental health struggles, and finding the inner strength it takes to open up in an effort to overcome. The band previously shared "Me & My Sunshine" from the new record, which Atwood Magazine praised for its "sweetly seductive vocal harmonies" and as a song that "whisks us into another world" - as well as lead single "Wise," which was named one of the Best Songs Of The Week by Ones To Watch. 'The Garden' will be released through New Orleans-via-Muscle Shoals indie label Single Lock Records, who continue a banner 2022 that's included three GRAMMY nominations, their first-ever GRAMMY win and two A2IM Libera awards to their name. Motel Radio is Ian Wellman (vocals/guitar), Winston Triolo (vocals/guitar), Andrew Pancamo (bass) and Eric Lloyd (drums).
