Mumford & Sons, Pixies, Blondie, & More Added to Sold-Out Bowie Tribute Shows At Carnegie Hall And Radio City Music Hall

Today Michael Dorf announced via Pitchfork the new artists confirmed to pay tribute to the music of David Bowie at Carnegie Hall on March 31 and Radio City Music Hall on April 1: Debbie Harry and Blondie, the Pixies, Mumford & Sons, Bette Midler, Jherek Bischoff, Amanda Palmer, Anna Calvi and the Donny McCaslin Group (with Mark Guiliana, Jason Lindner, and Tony Visconti). Michael Stipe, already billed at Carnegie Hall, has been added to the Radio City lineup. Nancy Wilson of Heart will join her sister Ann to perform on both nights. Both concerts are sold-out.

For his last record "Blackstar," Bowie collaborated with saxophonist Donny McCaslin, and his group including virtuoso keyboardist Jason Lindner and drummer Mark Guiliana. McCaslin, Lindner and Guiliana will perform on April 1 accompanied by Tony Visconti.

Visconti, the Grammy-winning producer who worked on 13 of Bowie's albums including his last one, will also serve as leader of the house band Holy Holy and as the shows musical director. Holy Holy features Visconti on bass and Woody Woodmansey on drums, both original members of The Spiders from Mars.

Debbie Harry will perform solo at Carnegie Hall and Blondie is set to play at Radio City Music Hall. In 1977, Blondie and Bowie formed a long-lasting bond after meeting on Iggy Pop's 'The Idiot' world tour, which featured Blondie as the opener and Bowie as part of Iggy's backing band.

Mumford & Sons will pay their homage at Radio City Music Hall. Bowie was in attendance at the final show of their 2010 U.S. tour at Terminal 5.

The Pixies will play both nights. Bowie was a fan of the band and Pixies front man Frank Black performed at his 50th birthday celebration in 1997.

Jherek Bischoff, Amanda Palmer and Anna Calvi will perform as a trio. They released a cover of "Blackstar" earlier this month, as part of "Strung Out In Heaven: A Bowie String Quartet Tribute," a Patreon-funded EP of covers by Bischoff and Palmer.

Michael Dorf is uniquely suited to create the impressive and eclectic rosters he assembles each year as a founder of two seminal NYC music venues: the Knitting Factory, which he started in 1987 and sold in 2002, and City Winery, the venue he founded in 2008 in NYC, that now has locations in Chicago and Nashville, and will expand to Atlanta and Boston this year. For nearly thirty years, he has programmed for stages across the globe.

Working alongside him as an Associate Producer for the show is Shlomo Lipetz, City Winery's National Programming Director. For the past 8 years, Lipetz has been overseeing the musical programming in all of the City Winery's locations.
