Today, SHOWX — a new free app built to help independent musicians address some of the major challenges of the post-COVID, streaming-centric era — announces its official launch via the Apple App Store and Google Play. 

Conceived by working musicians for working musicians, SHOWX is a mission-driven platform that creates a forum through which artists can network, collaborate, co-promote, and create all with the goal of empowering careers and getting your music heard.

Whether you’re searching for a slide guitar player to do overdubs on your latest song, booking acts for a charity livestream event, looking to brainstorm a special merch item, or scouting venues for a socially-distanced concert, SHOWX provides the tools to grow and sustain your musical community.

Additionally, SHOWX is introducing Mashups, an innovative, all-new feature to help musicians create unique content that is poised for collaboration and virality. Mashups allow musicians to create videos of themselves playing original instrumental passages that anyone else on SHOWX can hop on and collaborate with. As more musicians layer on, the different videos are combined into a sleek video grid that can be shared on Instagram, TikTok, or any other social media platform. The result is a fun, music-forward way for artists and their fans to interact in a safe, socially-distanced manner.

Right now, some of the traditional means by which musicians cultivate their communities have been put on hold. Touring and the networking and promotional opportunities that go along with it help drive the careers of developing artists. But with most musicians currently grounded, finding alternative ways to build relationships is more crucial than ever. To address these issues, SHOWX has taken networking virtual. As one user recently observed: “If Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok are the new stages, SHOWX is the greenroom.”

With an intuitive interface that’ll be familiar to any social media user, musicians are connected by location, genre, and goals. Artists are held accountable by a user-moderated trust system that ensures all parties are being ethical and equitable. And musicians are given tools and guidance to help use SHOWX to move their careers forward. 

As part of its launch this month, SHOWX is partnering with Paste Magazine to host a series of livestreams live from The Cutting Room in New York City from January 25th through January 31st. Initial participants include Steve Earle, Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum, Moon Hooch, Jonathan Coulton, and Brandon "Taz" Niederauer. More additions to the lineup will be announced soon.

SHOWX was developed with independent artists led by musician and longtime indie NYC booker Lincoln Schofield and with guidance from Venmo co-founder Iqram Magdon-Ismail.
