On November 16, New York Public Radio (NYPR) will hold its annual Gala at New York City’s iconic Plaza Hotel. The Gala will honor two-time Peabody Award-winning podcast Radiolab on the occasion of the show’s 20th anniversary and, for the first time ever, the event will be held both in-person and virtually for audiences and fans around the world.

Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Julianna Margulies will host the event, which will also feature musical performances by acclaimed singer-songwriter Kishi Bashi and musicians from the WQXR Artist Propulsion Lab. Presenters will include This American Life host Ira Glass, NYPR President and CEO Goli Sheikholeslami, and NYPR Board of Trustees Chair Tim Wilkins.Radiolab hosts Jad AbumradLulu Miller, and Latif Nasser will accept an award honoring the show’s 20 years of work and join in a toast to retired Radiolab co-host Robert Krulwich. The program will also include musical performances from Kishi Bashi and a special performance of original Radiolab scores by members of WQXR’s Artist Propulsion Lab, WQXR’s program to support mid-career musicians and performers during the pandemic.

The gala will feature a cocktail party, seated dinner, and program in the Plaza Hotel’s ballroom celebrating Radiolab’s 20 years and WNYC and WQXR’s service to New York City during the pandemic. For those unable attend in person, the ballroom program will also stream online, with virtual tickets available for a donation.

NYPR’s annual gala is its largest fundraising event of the year—celebrating the vital and illuminating work produced across New York Public Radio and the generous supporters who make it all possible. Past Gala performers and hosts include Aidy Bryant, John Turturro, Hilary Hahn, Audra McDonald, Wynton Marsalis, Cynthia Nixon, Renee Fleming, and Brian Stokes Mitchell.
