Neyla Pekarek (ex-Lumineers) releases debut solo album + playing Grand Ole Opry tomorrow

Today, Neyla Pekarek releases her debut album ‘Rattlesnake’ on S-Curve Records. Early praise for the album has come from outlets like American Songwriter, Paste, and Billboard who called the new music "fearless." It’s Neyla’s first solo release since her 2018 departure from The Lumineers, of which she was a core member for 8 years.

‘Rattlesnake’ explores the story of Rattlesnake Kate - a real-life frontierswoman who earned her nickname when she single-handedly defended herself and her 3-year-old son against 140 rattlesnakes. It's an appropriate solo debut for Neyla, who was inspired by Kate's pioneering spirit, and wrote the record over the course of 2 years on the road with The Lumineers.

Ahead of the release, Neyla sat down with Colorado Public Radio’s Colorado Matters to talk about the record. Listen to the interview here: https://bit.ly/2HhU3NL

This Saturday, Neyla will be a guest on NPR’s All Things Considered, discussing the album with guest host Melisa Block. The same evening she will make her Grand Ole Opry debut at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, where she’ll perform music from the new record alongside the Opry band. Neyla will also host an in-store acoustic performance at Grimey’s in Nashville to celebrate the release on Sunday, January 20th at 2 PM. More information here: https://bit.ly/2VQPdKC

Neyla is currently working on a musical version of Rattlesnake Kate’s story with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and will tour extensively in support of ‘Rattlesnake’ in 2019, including select dates alongside fellow Coloradans Devotchka. She’ll also perform at Sundance Film Festival on January 29. Full touring route below.
