Lowe Discusses First Album In A Decade - Indoor Safari (Out Now On Yep Roc Records) - With PBS Newshour + Questlove Supreme

Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets are set to bring Indoor Safari across North America through the end of the year, with the celebration for Lowe’s first album in a decade beginning tonight and tomorrow at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. The “master songwriter who never takes himself too seriously” (Rolling Stone) will be joined by Los Straitjackets - America’s beloved masked men of surf-and-spy guitar instrumentals - for a run of performances wrapping December 15 at the legendary Antone’s in Austin, Texas. In between, they’ll play multi-night stands in each of Philadelphia, Boston, Washington DC, Toronto, Chicago and Minneapolis. 2025 will see Lowe and Los Straitjackets continue touring together through Europe, including their return to London for an intimate club show at The Garage (February 13) - following a successful hometown stop last month at The London Palladium in the city’s West End. These upcoming North American shows will cap an exciting 2024 for Lowe, whose just-released new album Indoor Safari has been called “a masterclass in simple elegance and timeless tunes” (Salon). Nick marked the album’s release, and his 75th birthday, with an extensive profile on PBS Newshour recently - who note: “it’s hard to find rock ‘n’ roll credentials more solid than Nick Lowe’s.” He also recently joined the podcast Questlove Supreme, to discuss the road to Indoor Safari, his impact on UK punk and new wave, an unexpected second-act partnership with Los Straitjackets and much more.

Consisting of twelve tracks, Indoor Safari includes brand-new Nick Lowe originals, deep-cut rarities and refitted versions of songs previously released in nascent form as singles; a songwriting process he first utilized in the Seventies on breakout cuts like “Cruel to Be Kind” and “Heart of the City.” Produced by Lowe, Indoor Safari was recorded in various locations and mixed by Alex Hall (JD McPherson, Cactus Blossoms) alongside Lowe at Reliable Recorders in Chicago. The album represents a culmination of Lowe’s decade-long working relationship with Los Straitjackets: Eddie Angel/guitar, Pete Curry/bass, Chris Sprague/drums and Greg Townson/guitar.
