Nick Lowe Shares New Song “Trombone” From Upcoming Love Starvation / Trombone EP, Out May 17 On Yep Roc Records

North American Dates Underway For Nick Lowe’s Quality Rock & Roll Revue Starring Los Straitjackets

Nick Lowe has unveiled a new track from his upcoming Love Starvation / Trombone EP, out May 17 on Yep Roc Records. In collaboration with Los Straitjackets, Lowe’s “Trombone” celebrates the brass-infused pop music of the 1960s with his signature craftsmanship and wit. The actual trombone on the song is played by Duane Benjamin (Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations), and was arranged by Jimmy Vivino of Conan O’Brien’s Basic Cable Band. Earlier this year, Rolling Stone shared the other title track “Love Starvation,” and the four-song collection will also include the Lowe original “Blue On Blue” plus a cover of the obscure Phil Spector-produced rarity "Raincoat In The River."

Love Starvation / Trombone is Lowe’s second consecutive release with Los Straitjackets (after 2018’s Tokyo Bay / Crying Inside), bringing the seemingly unconventional partnership between the "master songwriter who never takes himself too seriously" (Rolling Stone) and America's beloved masked men of surf-and-spy guitar instrumentals to new heights. Lowe, who just turned 70 in March, was also just the subject of a career-spanning profile in the December 2018 issue of Rolling Stone magazine.

The latest iteration of Nick Lowe's Quality Rock & Roll Revue Starring Los Straitjackets is currently en route across North America, with the Philadelphia Inquirer declaring that “Lowe has no peer and remains in top form,” and the Boston Globe pondering, “has anyone made a more effortless and elegant second-act transformation than Nick Lowe?” In addition to their collaborative work, the live shows will feature the Straitjackets backing Lowe on hits from throughout his illustrious career, as well as a set of their own standouts. Nick will return to the U.S. in May for solo shows, including a performance at The Ryman Auditorium for Mavis & Friends: Celebrating 80 Years of Mavis Staples. A full list of tour dates is below.
