“The Rapping & Singing Extraordinaire Making Nigeria Proud” - Ones To Watch

March 26, 2021 — Today, AYLØ, a rising star in Nigeria’s alté scene, releases his live performance EP ‘Clairsentience LIVE’ on Soulection Records. The three breathtaking renditions of songs from his December 2020 ‘Clairsentience’ EP bring the singer’s distinct sounds of Western Africa that include alternative R&B, neo soul, hip hop and afropop to a new dimension.

Opening track “Romantic,” previously dubbed by OkayAfrica as a “meditative affair” and described by Culture Custodian as a “welcome sound diversion that still banks on [AYLØ’s] desire for sonic perfection,” sways and builds. The live version heightens the song’s energy; AYLØ’s tone comes through clear and insistent amongst shimmering guitars. “Closure” drifts along, with syncopated rhythms and the sigh of background vocals. Finally, the soft glow of a synth pad introduces “Clairsentient/Such a Sad Groove,” accentuated with spoken words like scattered thoughts. AYLØ’s vocals soar and deliver a passionate emotion before the song launches into an irresistible groove highlighting each of the individual band members.

By the end of the EP, the listener is left with the buzz of attending a live show through brilliantly crisp sounds and AYLØ’s stunning presence as a performer. The singer dazzles with his reinventions of familiar tracks through a fresh lens, showcasing the creativity characteristic of Soulection Records.
