Today, Numero Group announces its return to London for a five-day takeover. From October 5th-9th, for the first time in three years, the Chicago-based record label and rights management organization will bring thousands of LPs, 45s, cassettes and CDs, exclusive t-shirts and hats, test pressings, lavishly packaged box sets and decades' worth of precious lost sounds to a pop-up shop in the Shoreditch neighborhood. Open from 11am-7pm each day and located at 146 Bethnal Green Rd, the free-to-enter events will see Numero co-founders Rob Sevier and Ken Shipley travel across the pond to offer deeply researched, expertly resuscitated selections, recommendations and knowledge to all attendees.

October 5th-9th, 11am-7pm
Following a previous iteration of London events in 2019, next month's pop-up marks the latest in a series of international expansions for Numero Group. In addition to hiring Ben Beauvallet as the company's first-ever UK & EU Label Manager in June 2022, Numero has increased its presence overseas through a continued growth in their meticulously curated repertoire. Most recently, the label has entered a partnership with London's daring V4 Visions imprint, which documented the confluence of street soul, deep house, swingbeat and jungle sounds that emanated from the clubs and pirate radio signals throughout the UK's house and rave movement of the early 1990s. From artists such as Ashaye, Endangered Species, Julie Stapleton and Maureen Mason, to Rohan Delano, The Wades and more, V4's 12” output spanned all corners of the Black British music scene, including jazz-funk, sound system reggae, hip-hop, new jack swing, garage and other genres that will experience new life through the work that has earned Numero eleven Grammy nominations and counting.
"For me, Numero Group has always been synonymous with a kind of militant curiosity,"says Ben Beauvallet, Numero Group's UK & EU Label Manager. "I'm honoured to act as an extension of that here in London, and excited to share it with fans at the pop-up this October."
Numero Group Co-Founder Ken Shipley adds, "Our pop up stores aim to bridge the gap between hardcore fans and casual browsers alike. Ideally someone will hear a great tune spilling out of the stereo and into the street and be sucked into our alternate history of popular music."
Additional programming for the London pop-up will be announced soon, including a special DJ set from Rob Sevier at Mare Street Market on October 7th, presented in partnership with Stranger Than Paradise, as well as more Numero Group news as the company prepares for its 20th Anniversary in 2023. Since its formation in 2003, Numero Group has committed itself to excavating and reintroducing lost sounds for brand new audiences, channeling their intense research, wild ideas and unparalleled ear for potential into herculean box sets, playlists, and stunning new artifacts of music history. In a recent expansion from revered reissue label into a holistic rights management organization, tailor made for the 21st Century, Numero has launched songs and artists from complete obscurity to tens of millions of Spotify streams, TikTok trends, syncs in Netflix series, samples in hip-hop hits and far beyond.
