“Like Really” is a cutting song, the prolific MC and producer reflecting a state of disbelief in the political climate. For the second verse Oddisee flips the meaning to address how some perceive of him as an artist. It’s set to deep soul with chilly trap inflections and is an important piece in the overall concept of ‘The Iceberg.’

“How you gonna make us great when we were never really that amazing /

take it back what, I don’t find hanging black lives entertaining/

how do you police the streets of a neighborhood you do not engage in/

why a brother get three for a sack while your brother go free for a raping”

Oddisee has announced a show in LA on February 3, where he will open the 2017 season of the First Friday’s series at the Natural History Museum. On January 27 he will host a full rehearsal with his band Good Compny in his hometown of Washington, D.C., open to the public at St. Stephen's Church. A three-month international tour begins March 2 in Paris.

The first song to be released from the album was the deep house-inflected “Things,” and subsequently featured on NPR, Stereogum and many others. New York Magazine also included the album in their most anticipated releases of 2017, saying: "he deftly uses his own experiences to reflect on the greater state of humanity, in all its beauty and flaws." Oddisee has released two studio albums, several EPs, mixtapes and instrumental albums, and has over 23 million plays on Spotify. He’s been profiled by NPR, the Washington Post, praised by Pitchfork and Stereogum, performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk, Red Bull Sound Select and at festivals including Glastonbury and Sasquatch. ‘The Iceberg’ follows two releases in 2016, the ‘Alwasta EP’ and the instrumentals album ‘The Odd Tape.’ His 2015 full-length ‘The Good Fight’ was a Top 10 album on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart and he won the iTunes Music award for Best Hip-Hop Album of 2012.
