Today, Oh Boy Records has released “Dogs Of Burlington", an previously unreleased John Prine original and the third preview of Found Dogs, a newly curated archival release celebrating the 30th anniversary of Prine's 1995 LP, Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings. An upbeat showcase for Prine’s dry sense of humor, “Dogs Of Burlington” is one of five previously unheard, original John Prine songs in the set. Today’s release marks the third preview of Found Dogs following the Prine original “World Without Love” and Johnny Horton cover “All for the Love of a Girl”.

Assembled from the original recording sessions and demos from the era, Found Dogscollects alternate takes, acoustic solo performances and other previously unheard material, offering listeners an intimate look at his songwriting and studio process during a pivotal time of John Prine’s career. Initially previewed in April as a limited-edition run of 2000 LPs for Record Store Day, Found Dogs will be widely available physically and digitally on October 9th, a day before what would have been Prine's 80th birthday on October 10th, 2026. 

To celebrate John Prine's upcoming 80th birthday, Oh Boy Records and The Hello In There Foundation have also announced Souvenirs: 80 Years of John Prine, a milestone tribute concert taking place at the Chicago Theatre on October 8th. Commemorating his life and legacy alongside a community of artists playing their favorite Prine songs, the event will pay tribute to an immortal body of work that has inspired, comforted and connected generations. Hosted by John C. Reilly, with proceeds benefiting The Hello in There Foundation's ongoing grantmaking in John Prine's memory, the night will feature performances from Alynda Segarra of Hurray for the Riff Raff, Alejando Escovedo, Amos Lee, Andrew Sa, Arlo McKinley, Billy Prine, Briscoe, Emily Scott Robinson, Hayes Carll, Jon Langford, Jordan Davis, Josh Ritter, Joy Oladokun, Kathleen Edwards, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff, Noeline Hofmann, Ratboys, Shemekia Copeland, Steve Earle, Sullivan Sisters with Jonas Friddle, The Cactus Blossoms and Valerie June. All proceeds to the event will benefit The Hello In There Foundation, which has provided $1.4 million in community grants to more than 120 charitable organizations since its establishment in 2021. 

Furthermore, in celebration of John Prine’s birthday, the Prine Family and The Hello In There Foundation will present five days of local Chicago events from October 7th-11th, including a kickoff event exploring the literary heart of Prine’s writing, presented with support of Chicago Humanities at Metro Chicago, multiple screenings of concert documentary How Lucky Can One Man Get (filmed in 2010 at Prine's hometown high school gym), a panel discussion of Prine's contribution to the Chicago folk scene at the Chicago History Museum, the unveiling of a mural of Prine by the artist Jon Langford followed by an all-day celebration at the Old Town School of Folk Music, and a celebration of Prine's life in the village of Maywood, Illinois, where he grew up and attended high school. About John Prine

John Prine (1946–2020) was one of America's most treasured singer-songwriters, with admirers spanning from Bob Dylan and Bonnie Raitt to Brandi Carlile and beyond. Born in Maywood, Illinois, and rooted in his family's Kentucky heritage, John wrote his earliest songs while working as a mail carrier in Chicago, composing lyrics in his head on long postal routes, giving voice to working families, veterans, and those living in the quiet margins of everyday life.

His 1971 self-titled debut on Atlantic Records, featuring "Paradise," "Angel from Montgomery," and "Sam Stone," launched a career spanning 18 studio albums, four Grammy Awards, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, an induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the prestigious PEN Award for Song Lyrics of Literary Excellence. In 1981, he co-founded Oh Boy Records, one of the first artist-owned independent labels in the United States, and in 2005, he became the first singer-songwriter to read and perform at the Library of Congress. 

After John's passing in 2020, his family created The Hello in There Foundation, carrying forward his deeply held commitment to kindness and community. To date, the Foundation has provided nearly $1.4 million in grants to over 120 organizations. Fiona Prine and her sons continue to operate Oh Boy Records alongside the Foundation, helping to steward the legacy of an artist who understood that music, at its best, is an act of community.

The Hello in There Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization established by the family of John Prine as a way for his fan network, friends, and family to celebrate his memory and generous spirit through a philanthropic commitment to community care.

Established in 2021 by the family after John's death, the work of the foundation is inspired and guided by John's simple song title, Hello In There. The foundation mobilizes John's intensely devoted community of supporters in order to raise resources through tax-deductible donations, event revenue, and sponsorships. Grants help support important work being done across issues like food insecurity, housing, mental health, immigrant & refugee justice, and addiction recovery, to nonprofit organizations that align with John's ethos, with a particular priority for supporting community nonprofits dedicated to caring for those who are marginalized, discriminated against or, for any reason, are otherwise forgotten.
