Okkervil River Unveils Music Video For "Okkervil River R.I.P." Starring Tim Blake Nelson

Okkervil River has released a brand-new music video for “Okkervil River R.I.P.”, offering yet another highly meditative glimpse into ‘Away’ (9/9, ATO Records) – the band’s first album in three years, and the beginning of a new chapter for creatively reborn frontman Will Sheff. Today, NPR First Watch premieres the music video, calling it "stirring." Watch it here: http://n.pr/29mLLkU.

The video was written and directed by Sheff and stars Tim Blake Nelson, known for his roles in ‘O Brother Where Art Thou?’ and ‘Lincoln’, who leads the short-film-set-to-song as a priest directing the funeral of a dead, but still-singing Sheff.

Sheff also recently wrote and recorded the theme song for the new Bill Simmons show on HBO, “Any Given Wednesday”, which premiered last month. Listen to the song in the opening credits here: https://youtu.be/jL0ouwGCnu4

Okkervil River will be back on tour later this summer and into the fall, including a special show at Brooklyn’s National Sawdust with members of yMusic who played on ‘Away.’ This is the only scheduled show where they’ll be performing with full orchestration.
