Old Sea Brigade will release Motivational Speaking next Friday May 14, the new twelve song collection from the Atlanta-born, Nashville-based musician making "some of the best quarantine art," per Consequence of Sound. To celebrate, OSB's Ben Cramer will team up with livestream company Seated on May 14 for a virtual album release event - dubbed "The Motivation Hour" - featuring full-band live performances from the new album, a fan Q&A and much more. There is much to celebrate in the run up to Motivational Speaking, with the critically-lauded new album exploring fresh sonic territory: "a melodic, memorable one...with echoes of 80s synthpop and jangly guitars" (WNYC), featuring songs where "no one could argue against Old Sea Brigade having moved well outside the borders of the ubiquitous acoustic singer-songwriter classification" (American Songwriter).

For an album that's been dubbed a "Nashville deep dive" by the East Nashvillian, it's only fitting that "The Motivation Hour" will take place from Old Sea Brigade's adopted hometown, featuring members of his tight-knit local music community as they perform songs from this "ambient and evocative record perfect for 2021" (Atwood). Motivational Speaking is the latest piece in a breakout run for Old Sea Brigade, who was taken on the road by songwriting contemporaries like Julien Baker, Hiss Golden Messenger and John Paul White pre-COVID while garnering over 45 million Spotify streams for his original "Love Brought Weight." Most recently, OSB released a collaborative EP called All The Ways You Sing In The Dark with regular tourmate Luke Sital-Singh in 2020, while continuing to expand and rework Motivational Speaking throughout quarantine with longtime production partner Owen Lewis.
