Today, PJ Morton promises to pull at your heartstrings with the release of his new single, "Close Enough." As the latest look into the Gospel half of his forthcoming double album, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, out June 19th on Morton Records / SRG-ILS Group, the song reveals more of the double-sided duality that makes this project the most complete expression of his artistry and identity to date. Split into a seamless coexistence of R&B (Saturday Night) and Gospel (Sunday Morning), the 18-track collection breaks down the barriers of sound, culture and genre that Morton has always sought to defy.

Written and produced by PJ Morton, and recorded at his own historic Studio in The Country in rural Bogalusa, Louisiana, "Close Enough" follows Sunday Morning'"Mercy," as well as Saturday Night'"Mutual" and "Sell My Soul," which Billboard called "a grounding mantra we can all take a few pointers from." Continuing a tradition of musical and communal bridge-building, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning marks an unprecedented release for PJ Morton and any other artist or album in the past decade, channeling his life story into a sweeping set of music defined by independence and interconnectedness, exploration and introspection.

In tandem with Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, and on the heels of receiving both the 2026 GRAMMY® Award for Best Gospel Album and a 2026 BET Awards nomination for the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award, The National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) has named PJ Morton as its Grand Marshal of Black Music Month 2026. The announcement arrives with the upcoming launch of NMAAM's Saturday Night, Sunday Morning exhibition, a world-premiere tribute to PJ Morton's life and artistry. Opening on June 18th, with Morton headlining the most ambitious, month-long celebration in NMAAM's five-year history, the exhibit will feature exclusive artifacts, a Saturday Night, Sunday Morning listening party, and more on display through September 30th.

"PJ Morton is not just one of the most gifted musicians of his generation – he is a living embodiment of everything Black Music Month celebrates," said Bill Jeffries, Executive Director of NMAAM. "Having him serve as our Grand Marshal in our fifth anniversary year is an honor that reflects exactly where this museum stands: at the intersection of legacy and tomorrow."

In addition to performing around the globe, PJ Morton has made albums everywhere from Africa to Louisiana. He has won six GRAMMY® Awards including Best R&B Song, Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best Gospel Album, has recorded with everything from a lone piano to a full orchestra, and played everywhere from church services to the Super Bowl Halftime Show. He has topped the pop charts as a long-time, full-time member of Maroon 5, and throughout his transformation from preacher's kid to one of the busiest men in music, he has collaborated with countless icons, innovators and institutions. But until now, one thing he has never done is create something like Saturday Night, Sunday Morning

"I'd always been made to choose. Growing up in church, I loved gospel music. You could feel it in your soul. But R&B and soul music, that got me too," said PJ Morton. "There was always an unspoken rule that you had to choose one or the other. But is that a true reflection of life? Are we all one thing all the time? Is the soundtrack the same for having a worship experience with God as it is for falling in love? I didn't want to choose this time. I'm both Saturday Night and Sunday Morning."

Following the album's release, PJ Morton will embark on The Saturday Night, Sunday Morning Tour this summer and fall, playing more than 40 headline shows across North America, the UK and Europe. In the meantime, at a series of pop-up events across the country, Morton is currently giving fans a special chance to experience Saturday Night, Sunday Morning on physical formats ahead of June 19th.
