Pom Pom Squad Drops “Until It Stops” For Spotify Singles x Fresh Finds

North American & European Headlining Tour Set For Spring 2022

Today, one of 2021’s rock breakthrough success stories Pom Pom Squad drops their latest original track “Until It Stops” in partnership with Spotify’s Fresh Finds program (LISTEN HERE). Also today, Pom Pom Squad has announced a forthcoming headlining North American & European tour to kick off next Spring, following their current stateside run in support of Nada Surf. Tickets on-sale HERE and full dates below.

Earlier this year, Spotify launched a brand new partnership program for independent artists centered around its Fresh Finds playlist brand, with a focus on helping developing artists learn, collaborate, and grow, giving them tools for longterm, sustained career success. Pom Pom Squad’s contribution to the program is this anti-ode to the wild nights of your early 20s including a drunkenly raucous singalong during the final choral refrain. “Until It Stops” explores the nuances of social expectations vs. personal comfort, and what living life to the fullest really looks like.

Of the track (produced by Sarah Tudzin (aka illuminati hotties), frontperson Mia Berrin says it “is my version of a drinking song. I'm not much of a partier but I'm in my early 20s, so whenever I turn down an invite to go out I go through an internal dialogue wondering if I'm missing my youth. Then, when I actually do go out, I get uncomfortable and then I drink too much and put my foot in my mouth and go home with all my makeup under my eyes. At the time I wrote this I was thinking about those super sugary club songs of the 2000s that always seemed to mention dancing and death in the same line-- there is this strange morbid connection between partying and mortality."

“Until It Stops” is the latest track from a band and frontperson who Pitchfork called “a fiery exploration of love, anger, and coming-of-age”, Consequence described as “a band embracing the lack of confines in 21st century rock”, and for which NPR boldly proclaimed “rarely does an artist land in a creative sweet spot like Berrin has”. Their debut full-length album ‘Death Of a Cheerleader’ (via City Slang Records) led Pom Pom Squad to be named one of Stereogum’s “40 Best New Bands Of 2021” who said that the record is “packed with sticky hooks, minor-key misery, and dramatic orchestral anthems. Each cut is topped off by Berrin’s agile vocals, which yelp, soar, and transmit a vibrant spectrum of emotion.” Pom Pom Squad also recently announced the forthcoming vinyl release of their beloved previously released ‘Ow’ EP (available December 17th, pre-order via City Slang/Vinyl Me Please).
