Last week, Pom Pom Squad made the rounds at SXSW delivering several much-anticipated performances, and today they are continuing the momentum with the release of a Tiny Desk performance via NPR’s “Tiny Desk Meets SXSW” series. Fronted by rock badass frontperson Mia Berrin, Pom Pom Squad conjured up a ferocious performance of tracks off last year’s critically acclaimed full-length debut ‘Death Of a Cheerleader’ (“Head Cheerleader", “Drunk Voicemail”, “Crying” & “Be Good”) as well as the fan favorite “Cherry Blossom” from their 2019 ‘Ow” EP.

This Tiny Desk is a taste of what’s to come from Pom Pom Squad’s forthcoming headlining Spring tour kicking off April 14 in Richmond, VA. Full dates below.

Pom Pom Squad was one of 2021's breakout rock acts with 'Death Of a Cheerleader' (via City Slang Records), which Rolling Stone said "twists the femininity she embodies, and all the still-healing adolescent feelings, emotional baggage, and identity crises that come with it, to create a beautifully raw punk record" while NPR stated "rarely does an artist land in a creative sweet spot like Berrin has".

Equal parts grimy garage rock authenticity and swirling cinematic flourishes, ‘Death Of a Cheerleader’ encourages listeners to be their own special kind of cheerleader while exploring the terrifying yet liberating topics of independent self-acceptance, smashing the white male patriarchy, being okay with not being okay, and fully embracing your own skin for the first time in your life. ‘Death Of a Cheerleader’ is a record for those struggling to find themselves and then shouting from the rooftops when they finally do.
