Q&A w. Jocelyn Arndt

What does it mean to you as a female creator to have a female-centric team behind this album?
It's so important. I’m constantly inspired by the women I work with. We all know this industry has its challenges, but it's easier to face them knowing there's a team of people behind us that includes women who understand those challenges firsthand. I think it's more crucial than ever to give women the opportunity to show what we can do. And I'm just so, so excited to have such an awesome group of positive, hard-working people behind this record.

Who are you style / fashion icons or inspirations?
Debbie Harry
Janis Joplin
Lady Gaga
Grace Slick
Winona Rider

Do you have any hidden / special talents?
I'm a good skier; I was an instructor in high school at Gore Mountain in Upstate NY
I can speak some Chinese; I took it in college

What does it mean to you to be making music with your brother?
It means everything. Chris and I have never written songs alone. It's always been something we've done together, as a team. Chris knows me better than anyone else; he's my best friend, and to be able to do something this special to me with my best friend means everything. We've been through a lot, good and bad, but we're always at our best when we're making music together.

Organizations / causes you are passionate about?
Sing Me a Story: they're an awesome charity that takes stories written by kids in need and has musicians turn these stories into songs. We record the song and upload it to their website, and then people can donate to get the recording and all the proceeds are forwarded to the kid who wrote the original story. We wrote a song for a boy named Isaac based on his story “My Friend Tic Tac” about Tic Tac the dinosaur.
