Qobuz Announces Debut SXSW Event Line-up

Audiophile's choice streaming service set for Miles Davis House, official showcase, and Hi-Res sountracked-massages

One year after its successful US launch, certified Hi-Res streaming service Qobuz will make its SXSW debut this year. Offering programming for artists, industry, and consumers alike, Qobuz will welcome jazz and Hi-Res fans to the Miles Davis House, host an official showcase at Central Presbyterian Church with indie electronic labels Holodeck Records and Unseen Worlds, and offer unique demo opportunities on super-luxe equipment to artists coming through the gift lounges.

At the Miles Davis House on March 21st, an all-day jazz house party thrown by Qobuz and The Miles Davis Estate at Antone’s, there will be live jazz along with Qobuz listening stations for fans and artists to demo the service. To set the mood, complimentary Kind Of Blue Whiskey and specialty cocktails will be served.

Also on the 21st, Qobuz will kick off its first official SXSW showcase with Austin-based boutique label Holodeck Records and NYC avant-garde label Unseen Worlds at the Central Presbyterian Church. The showcase is headlined by Austrian electronic artist Fennesz and features performances from other electronic artists including Astrid Sonne, Telefon Tel Aviv, Carl Stone, and more.

All throughout SXSW week, artists and industry will also get to experience Qobuz at its peak - while getting a massage in the artist gift lounge. Artists will have the rare opportunity to hear Qobuz through Audio Technica's unreleased flagship "Kokutan" (Striped Ebony) reference closed design headphones, which are hand-assembled by Japanese artisans using a rare wood derived from trees that take over 200 years to mature and are only located in Japan. Next to the masseuses, US Managing Director Dan Mackta and Director of Music Merchandising Sujan Hong will be on hand to curate the best-sounding tracks – including exclusive playlists from Unseen Worlds and Holodeck – based on the audiophile or audiophile-in-the-making’s tastes.

In its one year since arriving in the US from Paris, Qobuz has earned its reputation among the most discerning sound connoisseurs – including the legendary “keeper of the sound” Neil Young – as the audiophile’s listening service of choice. For a full listing of Qobuz at SXSW events, see below.
