Queens Rising Continues With More Than 100 Events To Close Out June

JUNE 16, 2022 - Queens Rising is halfway through its month-long, multi-disciplinary arts celebration created to highlight the borough’s culture and creative diversity. With fourteen days left in June, there are still more than 100 events throughout the borough for everyone to enjoy.

"Queens-based arts organizations have always found ways to individually partner and collaborate," said Brian Rogers, Co-Founder and Artistic Director of The Chocolate Factory, and member of the Queens Rising Planning Committee, "but never, in my 20+ years as an artist and curator, have I seen anyone try to meaningfully connect the vast, diverse, and micro-local art movements of this very complicated borough. Queens Rising is unprecedented in this regard. To witness these seemingly disparate communities coming together, on a large scale, with visibility, is inspiring."

"This is amazing to be part of the excitement of Queens Rising. From the musical performances to the dancing to the delicious aromas wafting from the food vendors here at the Queens Night Market, this truly represents the heart and soul of Queens," said Lorraine Chambers Lewis, executive director of LIJ Forest Hills. "Our hospital, along with Northwell Health, is proud to be the lead sponsor of this month-long event celebrating the arts and culture of the country's most diverse borough."

"A huge thank you to Queens Rising for including our Red Wall Art Gallery as part of this year's celebration," said Michelle Stoddart, Vice President of Community Development, Resorts World New York City. "We're proud to lend our support and help to reveal our borough's arts and culture scene to more of New York City. Queens is home to so many diverse and creative people and their artistic endeavors deserve to be recognized."

Queens Rising kicked off earlier this month at the Queens Night Market, and has since been offering a staggering array of arts and cultural activities for any and everyone. This initiative arose from an Arts Advisory Board meeting of the Kupferberg Center for the Arts, where leading individuals representing various Queens-based arts and culture organizations gathered to form a Planning Committee. The larger Queens artistic and cultural community were invited to join various Working Groups to help with Queens Rising's programming, operations, marketing, and fundraising.

Queens Rising has mobilized the borough's artistic community to collaborate and create an opportunity to highlight and promote all the incredible people who contribute to the vibrant culture and essence of Queens neighborhoods.

Queens Rising's lead sponsor is Northwell Health Long Island Jewish Forest Hills. Major support is provided by the Queens Economic Development Corporation, Resorts World NYC, and the Max and Selma Kupferberg Family Foundation. Additional funding is provided by the Queens Borough President's Office, NYC & Co, and individuals in the Queens Rising Planning Committee and Working Groups. Media sponsorship provided by Schneps Media, The Korea Times, El Diario, PIX 11 and Queens Post.
