Today, the Red Hot organization is proud to partner with SOFI TUKKER and Amadou & Mariam for the release of a very special, spirit-lifting and continent-crossing collaboration, "Mon Cheri." Sung in Portuguese, Bambara and French, and produced virtually from Florida, Paris and Mali, the brand new single delivers an ode to love that transcends language. Through endearing grooves, emphatic guitars and a euphoric eruption of sound, "Mon Cheri" sees the two GRAMMY-nominated duos unite in a universal call to the dance floor. As the latest preview of Red Hot + Free - Red Hot's just-announced double album out July 2 - the track continues the non-profit's 30-year mission of fighting HIV/AIDS and supporting humanitarian charities through music, pop culture and global anthems. Proceeds from "Mon Cheri" and the rest of Red Hot + Freewill benefit The Ally CoalitionTrevor Project and SAGE, three groups dedicated to LGBTQ equality, suicide prevention in LGBTQ youth, and the elderly LGBTQ community affected by HIV/AIDS and more.

"This song is a dream come true," says SOFI TUKKER"About a year ago, when Red Hot approached us about doing a collaboration, they asked us who our dream collaborators would be. We said Amadou & Mariam. Soph grew up listening to Amadou & Mariam all the time and in college, studied West African dance and music. We couldn't believe it when they came back to us saying they'd be interested. We worked with our long-time collaborator, Brazilian poet Chacal, to create a Portuguese part that matched the style of their vocal melodies. The whole process felt seamless. This is one of our favorite songs we've ever made and couldn't be more grateful to Amadou & Mariam for sharing it with us! Ahhhh!"

Amadou & Mariam add, "'Mon Cheri' came at the right time, it's a song to sing and dance to with a positive message of love. We are very happy to have collaborated with SOFI TUKKER and we hope people enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it."

About Amadou & Mariam

After seven acclaimed international albums, gold and platinum discs (including Dimanche à Bamako and Welcome to Mali), and countless sold-out concerts, Amadou & Mariam, one of Africa's most successful and popular musical exports have been using lockdown to recharge their batteries.

Amadou and Mariam's story is one of the most inspiring tales in the music world; a love affair that propelled two veterans of Mali's music industry, who first recorded together in the 1970s, into charts around the globe in the 21st century, winning enough awards to fill several sideboards in their home on the outskirts of Bamako and raising awareness of the difficulties in living in one of the world's poorest countries. Into their orbit came such stars as Manu Chao, David Gilmour, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Scissor Sisters and Damon Albarn, who told The Observer: "I don't think there's ever been a band from Africa with whom people have engaged in quite such a way." Yet it is also a story that began in adversity and continues to evolve and inspire more than 40 years after it began.

To this day, Amadou & Mariam continue to contribute frequently to the World Food Program as well as collaborating with the UNO on various programs. Amadou is now President of the Artists Federation in Mali (FEDAMA) and President of the Professional Musicians Union in Mali and the duo was made 'Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres', the highest decoration awarded by the French President for outstanding contributions to culture in France. In these unprecedented times, the global success of Amadou & Mariam should be a reminder that people can triumph over adversity, that with cooperation, enthusiasm and dedication, we can succeed even when everything seems to be against us.
