Richard Marx Returns With Seductive New Single “Magic Hour”
Performing On The Grand Finale Of Dancing With The Stars AustraliaNYC Residency At Café Carlyle
October 21–25
August 4, 2025 - Today, GRAMMY-winning singer, songwriter, producer & best-selling author Richard Marx releases his new single “Magic Hour” - fresh off his show-stopping performance of it during the grand finale of Dancing With The Stars Australia. The lush, groove-laden track was co-written with his wife Daisy Fuentes, emerging during a romantic escape to the remote Lizard Island in Australia. The song captures the effortless alchemy of seduction, romance, and an unforgettable melody - qualities that have long defined Marx’s most timeless work.
The song is from an upcoming project Marx will be previewing along with more music at his upcoming NYC residency, After Hours: Confessions at Café Carlyle. Running from October 21st to 25th, these intimate shows see him performing a set of jazz classics and original hits accompanied by a 24-piece orchestra. See more information and purchase tickets HERE.
Marx explains how “Magic Hour” came about: “Instead of locking myself in a windowless room like I used to, I head outside and do a hike. It’s as if the melodies and lyrics I’m searching for are hiding behind trees and bushes. The melody came to me very quickly, as usual, but I wasn’t sure what the lyric should be other than something ‘sexy.’ A few short weeks later, I was on tour in Australia and had a break of several days. We escaped to a remote resort called Lizard Island and, the second day on the beach, I sang the melody to my wife, Daisy, and we started throwing out lines to each other. Within thirty minutes, the idea for ‘Magic Hour’ was born. Over martinis in the restaurant, we finished the lyrics.”
This follows the release of “Forget About The World,” which Billboard described as “instantly hummable” and Parade praised how he “thrills fans with latest song.” Woman’s World also spotlighted Marx in a recent feature tied to the single.
This year, Marx continues to expand his creative output with his hit podcast and YouTube series, Stories To Tell. Each episode, an esteemed guest joins Marx for candid, cocktail-infused conversation at his home bar - including Kenny G, KISS’ Paul Stanley, Katie Couric, Chelsea Peretti, Rick Springfield, Matt Friend, Rich Appel (Family Guy), Terry Dubrow (Botched), Mothica, Eric Benet and more. The show was inspired by a Zoom YouTube series Marx started during the pandemic to connect with friends and collaborators from David Copperfield to Olivia Newton-John. Marx also joined joined The Voice Australia as a coach alongside Melanie C (aka Sporty Spice), Ronan Keating, and Kate Miller-Heidke.
Richard Marx has come a long way from a wide-eyed 18-year-old discovered by Lionel Richie to scoring a #1 single in four different decades (a feat shared only by Michael Jackson), writing 14 #1 hits across multiple genres, and collaborating with everyone from Hugh Jackman & Luther Vandross to NSYNC & Ringo Starr. His 1989 ballad “Right Here Waiting” recently had a resurgence in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (540 million Spotify listens & counting).
