Richard Marx Releases New Single “All I Ever Needed” Feat. Chris Botti

Richard Marx Releases New Single “All I Ever Needed” Feat. Chris Botti

NYC Residency At Café Carlyle October 21–25

September 26, 2025 - Today, GRAMMY-winning singer, songwriter, producer & best-selling author Richard Marx releases new single "All I Ever Needed" featuring world-renowned trumpeter Chris Botti.

Co-written by Marx, "All I Ever Needed" is a sweeping, jazz-infused ballad, pairing his signature lyrical intimacy with lush orchestration and a soaring horn solo from Botti. Lyrically, the song traces the journey from independence to surrender, celebrating the realization that love is life’s true anchor. Marx sings: “I didn’t want any strings / To ever tie me down / Thought I had everything / I never knew what a true love could do until you came around.”

“When I decided that my next project should be a combination of standards from the Great American Songbook and original songs I would write in that vein, ‘All I Ever Needed’ was the first song to arrive,” the recent Illinois Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee shared. “As is a common occurrence for me, I was out hiking in the beautiful California sunshine one afternoon when the melody snuck into my brain. I knew I needed to use chord progressions that were both unlike I had ever written and ones that were of the Sinatra heyday. I imagined being a songwriter for hire in 1949 and coming up with something Frank would've heard and said, ‘I gotta record that.’ By the time I arrived back home from my hike an hour or so later, the majority of the song was fully formed in my head and in my phone’s Voice Memo app. It was the first piece of the wonderful puzzle that became the upcoming ‘After Hours’ project.”

The release follows Magic Hour,” a romantic collaboration co-written with his wife, Daisy Fuentes, during an escape to Australia’s remote Lizard Island. In a recent joint interview with E! News, they spoke about releasing the single together.

Both songs preview material from an upcoming project Marx will debut along with more music at his upcoming NYC residency, After Hours: Confessions at Café Carlyle. Running from October 21st to 25th, these intimate shows see him performing a set of jazz classics and original hits accompanied by a 24-piece orchestra. Earlier this year, Marx released Forget About The World,” which Billboard described as “instantly hummable” and Parade praised how he “thrills fans with latest song. Woman’s World also spotlighted Marx in a recent feature tied to the single.

This year, Marx continues to expand his creative output with his hit podcast and YouTube series, Stories To Tell. Each episode, an esteemed guest joins Marx for candid, cocktail-infused conversation at his home bar - including Kenny GKISS’ Paul Stanley, Katie Couric, Chelsea Peretti, Rick Springfield, Matt Friend, Rich Appel (Family Guy), Terry Dubrow (Botched), Mothica, Eric Benet and more. The show was inspired by a Zoom YouTube series Marx started during the pandemic to connect with friends and collaborators from David Copperfield to Olivia Newton-John. Marx also joined joined The Voice Australia as a coach alongside Melanie C (aka Sporty Spice), Ronan Keating, and Kate Miller-Heidke.

Richard Marx has come a long way from a wide-eyed 18-year-old discovered by Lionel Richie to scoring a #1 single in four different decades (a feat shared only by Michael Jackson), writing 14 #1 hits across multiple genres, and collaborating with everyone from Hugh Jackman & Luther Vandross to NSYNC & Ringo Starr. His 1989 ballad “Right Here Waiting” recently had a resurgence in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (540 million Spotify listens & counting).
