Rock Music on a Ukulele? Only Jake Shimabukuro Could Make It Work!

On his forthcoming album ‘Peace Love Ukulele’ (Hitchhike Records, January 4th, 2011), virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro challenges traditional notions of his instrument. The astonishing stand-out track “Bring Your Adz” is a guitar-style rock song designed for the four-string, two-octave ukulele.

“An adz is a small ancient Hawaiian tool used for cutting that looks like an axe,” Jake says. “In rock & roll people usually refer to their guitars as their axe…I guess this is the ukulele version of the expression.”
