Teen Choice Award Winners Sam And Colby Launch Online Community & Life Skills Platform Meta Life
Duo partners with Love is Louder to provide emotional health tips and resources for Meta Life membersEntrepreneurs, entertainers, and 2019 Teen Choice Award winners Sam and Colbylaunch Meta Life, a new, subscription-based, interactive online platform to teach highly applicable life skills in a way that is engaging, fun and communal. Meta Life features videos, posts and challenges, created to help members develop life skills, set goals, overcome challenges and get the most out of their lives.
Creating Meta Life as a subscription-based platform helps ensure a safe, friendly and monitored community, and gives Sam and Colby the resources to do research and bring in subject matter experts to create content that is an effective fusion of their personal experiences and proven tips, tools and advice.
The development of Meta Life was driven by feedback and questions from Sam and Colby’s online followers. Many of the issues faced by that following are related to emotional health, so the duo partnered with Love is Louder – a project of The Jed Foundation to help teens and young adults feel more connected, supported and resilient – to provide tips, tools and resources to their members. A portion of each subscription will go to support Love is Louder programs.
“It took years of trial and error after reading books, watching online courses, and throwing ourselves outside our comfort zone to learn the life skills we wanted to,” says co-founder Sam Golbach. “I would’ve killed to have a friend or an older sibling to just walk me through the same steps. We realized that we could be that friend to so many others and helps them along the same journey.”
“I related to the fans who DMed me multiple times a day about battling life’s problems like sadness, anxiety, fitting in… the list goes on and on,” says co-founder Colby Brock. “I knew that if I could learn how to overcome those obstacles in my life, especially with a best friend to hold me accountable like Sam, then anyone could learn, and that’s when the idea of spreading this knowledge and Meta Life was born.”
Meta Life is launching with a 9 video Basics Course and new courses - with up to 10 videos each - will launch approximately every 6 weeks. The initial course covers important topics like:
- Embracing individual personalities and becoming more confident.
- Finding purpose and letting it guide decision-making and priorities.
- Feeling connected and supported.
- Setting short-term and long-term goals and tips/tools for reaching those goals.
- Understanding and taking care of emotional health and managing stress.
- The importance of speaking up and asking for help when needed.
Parents can feel comforted knowing that Meta Life was created with expert guidance and is a safe and friendly environment where posting the following types of content is restricted and can lead to account suspension: bullying or negative comments; posts that encourage drug or alcohol use; comments that encourage self-harm or violence of any kind; posts that have nudity or any risqué material.
