Secretly Distribution's Independent Champion Nomination Arrives At Company's 25th Anniversary

Secretly is proud to congratulate more than a dozen artists and six affiliate companies, who this week earned a collective 17 nominations for the 2023 Libera Awards. Presented by A2IM, the ceremony serves as the largest celebration of independent music in the United States, and this year brings another set of milestones and benchmarks. For the first time, all four Secretly Group record labels are represented, led by Dead Oceans' seven nods in genres as eclectic as Alternative Rock (Mitski, Laurel Hell), American Roots (Kevin Morby, This Is A Photograph), Global (Vieux Farka Touré et Khruangbin, Ali) and R&B (Khruangbin & Leon Bridges, Texas Moon), as well as Best Live/Livestream Act (Phoebe Bridgers, Glastonbury 2022), Short-Form Video Series (Toro y Moi, MAHAL TikTok Series) and Creative Packaging (Mitski, Laurel Hell).

Secretly Canadian expands the Secretly presence to more top honors including Video of the Year and Marketing Genius for their work with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, plus Folk and Outlier with breakout records from Skullcrusher and NNAMDÏ. Jagjaguwar's three nominations reflect a blockbuster release and sync from Angel Olsen, as well as a 10th Anniversary reissue from Bon Iver, while Saddest Factory Records received its inaugural Libera nod with MUNA's self-titled juggernaut up for Best Pop Record.

A nomination for Best Electronic Record goes to Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Ghostly International – now part of the Secretly-affiliated All Flowers Group alongside the recently launched drink sum wtr – and Secretly Distribution also received one major nomination for Independent Champion. Currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary as a leading music distributor, supporter and global solution for the world's most exciting record labels, Secretly Distribution extends additional congratulations to its partners up for the following awards: Captured Tracks for Label of the Year and Video of the Year (Jay Wood), Bayonet Records for Best Outlier Record (yeule), and brand new partner Chrysalis Records for Best Blues Record (Ben Harper), Best Spiritual Record (Sinéad O'Connor) and Best Sync Usage (Sinéad O'Connor).

Following Secretly's six wins and 15 nominations last year, 2023's increased breadth of achievements mirrors the continued growth and change across the company's international ecosystem of independent music. In addition to Secretly Group (Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, Saddest Factory Records, Secretly Canadian)All Flowers Group(drink sum wtr, Ghostly International) and Secretly Distribution, Secretly also encompasses Numero Group37d03dSecretly Publishing and a team of more than 200 employees around the globe, all driven by a principal belief that the most important cultural contributions come from artists and the small to medium-sized businesses that support them.

The 2023 Libera Awards will take place on June 15 at the historic Town Hall in New York City, as the culmination of A2IM's Indie Week.
